CAI won't help that car... Some earlier post somewhere confirms that... It wouldn't help much other than pushing the powerband higher into the rpm range, which isn't good on a four banger like that one. I think mine might take that effect, since I can launch at about 1000 steady revs with no problem. I'd just have to rev a bit higher, like 1200-1600 tops.
I don't see why making your car breathe better cuts off low down power... is it because the velocity of the air is decreased due to larger volume, and the engine wants high velocity air low due and large volumes up higher... I mean thats what a butterfly valve does right ?
CAI doesnt do sh1t besides making your engine bay look better. to me, popping the hood and seeing a shiny pipe instead of the ugly shopvac looking hose and a big black box, thats worth the 30 bucks. and it makes the car sound better.
so you gain 1 or 2 horsepower. you wont feel it. if you feel it, thats your brain tricking you into feeling it.
when you do the exhaust, then the CAI gets to be beneficial. when the engine can inhale easy but it stil choked on exhale, the whole thing is choked. when it inhales and exhales easy, then you can see why a CAI is nothing more than a stepping stone to other breathing upgrades. if you do the ehxuast and your stock intake is still choking the engine, then the exhaust wont work to its full potential becuase you gotta inhale first before you exhale. see what im saying?
do it for the better looking engine bay.
my CAIs filter was covered in mud after my crash, no splashguards lol. washed ito ut with a toothbrush, right back to normal.
^ Yeah I guess. I'll have to see if I can get a CAI that can also be swapped onto a KL later on. No sense in wasting money on something that's not interchangable.
Does my exhaust suck so bad nobody is even willing to comment on it?
welcome to the stock exhaust club. a sh1tty and quiet place to be.
i probably told you this a while ago before you wasted money on OEM exhaust and if didnt, here it is. there are 2 things in cars that you never replace with OEM, you always upgrade. those 2 things are exhaust and suspension.
id post a clip of my exhaust winding way up but its stock, whats the point.
Exhaust manifold insulator. Should I take it off? Seems to me it's just uglying up the engine bay, and keeping the exhaust hot.
I'm surprised there's actual pipes routed from the exhaust ports...I thought it was just a lump of metal that merged everything into one chamber. That's what the insulator looks like.
