The Noob family's new hwhip

My dad is a Chrysler retiree, and apparently FCA recently ran a good lease deal for retirees. Lately, we've been sharing our battered old '05 Neon while the Jeep and RX-7 are both still under the knife, so having another good, functional car around is a good thing for us. It's a 2015 Dodge Dart, 2.4L I4, SXT.

:D

I like it. It's a little bigger than the Neon, the interior is nice looking and comfortable, and the exhaust has a nice on-throttle growl that I wouldn't have expected from a stock, non-performance-oriented car. I rode with my dad to the dealer and drove the Dart back. I was a little rusty on my starts (but didn't stall!), I can still rev-match like a beast and still get great joy from doing so  .

I'll get some better photos from different angles in better light soon

Noice. I don't think it's a huge secret that I'm not a big FCA fan - they just don't have a ton that I like. However the Dart is an intriguing little vehicle. I've heard from several different people now that it's actually not bad to drive.

We obviously expect a full review within a few weeks including FOSE.

Thats only so long as it has the manual. The dual clutch automatic is terrible in every possible way.

What's the MDH? Open up the driver's door and look on the sticker.

My friend has one of those, except with the turbo. Fun little car, congrats! :)

053010 139AA

From what I've seen, that means it was built on 05/30/15, at approximately 10 AM? Not sure what the 139AA means.

So, bolted on the forward face of the transmission by 8 screws is the shift cover (#3 in the view above). Does your shift cover have two "Outie" belly-buttons or one? (The picture shows the version with one belly-button)

Si, Dos Umbilicus!

That's the latest version of the C635 manual transaxle. Among other things, less friction in the shift system. Snappier return from the outer gear planes to 3/4 Neutral. More of a suck-in feel when engaging gear ranges.

I'm looking at what it would be like with a short-throw shifter - well I'm not changing the shifter itself, did that the first year of production, but revising the effective length of the shift lever at the transmission.

Might be as simple as changing where a hole is punched in the lever and attaching the ballstud in the new location. After that, it's a substitution for the original bolt-on lever.

Can you make noises like a guinea pig?

Neat! I was afraid you were going to say "The transmissions with two 'Outie' belly-buttons have been known to puke their guts all over the road on 2>3 upshifts."

Well, if I ever have any issues, I'll be sure to ask about them here  . Seriously, it's cool to have someone involved in the design of my vehicle frequenting this forum.
