jomotopia's new ride
Wow, it's been a long time since I've been on here. Life sure has been busy over the last few years!
Anyway, I traded in my 2004 STi this weekend and thought I would just drop by to show you all what I got.
1 of 200 WRXs and 100 STis made in orange. We also got a new Outback for my wife, and I was literally about to start the paperwork to get them to transfer a Dark Gray Metallic 2013 STi from another dealership when they rolled this one off the truck and into the showroom. I didn't even know they made them in orange and I just had to have it. Now to get through the break-in and make it faster!

Jesus tapdancing christ! Jomo!
Nice car, man, I dig it. I was working on a deal on a new WRX a bit of time ago, but couldn't get what I wanted. Hatchback is a must for me and they only had sedans available as far as I've looked. I'm likely to end up in a Focus ST, MS3 or WRX as my next vehicle a number of years down the line.

I won't be as active as I used to be, but hopefully I'll be able to check in now and then!six wrote:HOLY SHIT JOMO IS BACK
Thanks! It is WAY more comfortable to drive and ride in, and MUCH nicer on the interior. Since it's a WRX instead of an STi, and my STi was Stage 2 to boot, it's slower (though I'm still in break-in so I haven't wrung it out yet) and a bit less tight to the road (but that's what helps make it more comfortable). But once break-in is over I'll start working to make it faster than my old STi. What I miss the most is the 6 speed. I've caught myself trying to shift into 6th at 80 mph but the only thing there is reverse, which is thankfully locked out. Plus I keep having to remind myself to hold the gears a little longer and go 1 gear lower than what I am used to. But I'll get used to it, and I also figure if I put enough power into it I might blow up the 5 speed which will be the perfect excuse to drop an STi 6 speed in there.noob5,000,000 wrote:Good to have you back, brah! Last Johnf showed up was mid 2011. He had one or two posts that entire year. He's been gone.

Re: jomotopia's new ride
Damn Jomo, good to see you back in here. I like the looks of that WRX, though I prefer the more conservative colors (black, silver, grey, white). I had an 02 Impreza wagon for a short while and it was a decent car but not for me. I now drive a slushbox Jetta, but I'm on here more than ever before (or so it seems). Hope you stick around and, and no, Johnf done abandoned us and can only be found on facebook these days.

Re: jomotopia's new ride
Well, my plan was to get a new dark gray STi and go wingless in order to be more low key. But I saw that orange and had to have it.potownrob wrote:I like the looks of that WRX, though I prefer the more conservative colors (black, silver, grey, white).

Re: jomotopia's new ride
I saw these in Car and Driver a few months ago. I don't know if any are coming to Canada. I haven't seen any.
I've driven a new-gen WRX and I have to say I like the feel of the GD chassis better. Nice cars though.

Two pedals, two feet, too easy.

Re: jomotopia's new ride
Congrats on the new car. I've never been much of a WRX fan (or a fan of Subaru in general) myself, but if the next generation looks anything at all like the concept, I might just become a big fan. I really like the styling direction they're moving toward....
