Got bored today at my folk's place so I went out and bought some plasti dip and some kind of white paint marker pen and did some vintage racing additions to my car

Also ended up dipping my mirrors black since the paint is kinda faded on them.

Plasti dip is pretty sweet. If I had enough, I'd just start dipping random panels on the car every few days

I just got my friend on it today. He did his mirrors and his wiper arms (which I didn't think of but will do now as well)

In not so good news, the drivers side front caliper started dragging the yesterday. I pulled off the highway after noticing that my car darted slightly to the right at initial brake pedal bite. I put my hand on the wheel and it was really hot. Then I noticed little wisps of smoke (but not before smelling roasted brakes). Turns out it had chewed my pads down to about a millimeter. I had a 20% off brake parts coupon at pepboys so I went over to my friends house today and I changed out the front pads and the dragging caliper and he helped me bleed them. Brakes seem to work as normal now with no extra heat at any wheels so I'd say job done.

What was the difference between the two sides in terms of pad thickness? Curious as to how long it may have been dragging - perhaps that has contributed to some of your lower gas mileage that I think you mentioned recently.

Dragging calipers suck. I remember driving my Teg back in Chicago and on one nice summer day, I came to a regular stop at a light and smelled brakes. Pulled over to find that passenger front caliper was sticking very badly. I barely made it home and it was smoking like a champ. Too bad. I was on my way to hit the tails on the bike, instead I ended up doing brakes and the caliper.

By the two sides do you mean the passenger and driver's side or the two sides of the rotor on the driver's side? The 2 sides of the rotor on the driver's side were about equal, maybe 1mm, 2 at most. The passenger side pads were at about 2-3mm.

And yes, they do blow. Luckily it wasn't bad enough to where they would significantly slow the car, just at the point where it wouldn't roll on a slight hill and it was hard to gain speed as quickly above 85 or so.

Today I went and got some tires and wheels for autocross. Super old and worn Falken Azenis RT-615s mounted onto E30 BBS RZ wheels. Tires are 195/60/14 and wheels are 14x6.5 with a +30 offset. They look damn meaty on the car, I dig them. Came with 15 spline drive lug nuts (missing one) and 2 BBS centercaps. The cost? 50 bones

Test fitted them earlier and went for a drive:

And my carrying solution if push comes to shove:

Is that black PlastiDip on your wheels? In that last pic, it looks more like gray. Maybe it's just my monitor though...

Nope, gunmetal wheel spray paint on the 5-spoke daily wheels.

Oh...okay. I must've misread your post. I thought you said that you PlastiDipped your wheels.

Now that I re-read my post, I can kind of see how that would seem. But they're gray in the first picture I put up with them on the last page.

Do you have a car that runs? If so, do it! It's fairly cheap if you don't go crazy with it.
