Wow, all that wind coming off of Lake Huron. The folks in Grand Rapids and other parts of western lower Michigan get the same treatment with the winds off of Lake Michigan. Here in Detroit we barely saw snow, just some flurries one evening.4onthefloor wrote:More than a foot. Some parts of my city got 60+ cm, so ~2 feet.ClutchDisc wrote:Is that a foot of snow I see?

Lake effect. It's what I get for being wedged between 3 of the great lakes.
Two pedals, two feet, too easy.

Re: 4onthefloor's new wheels
Not many updates lately. Haven't really done too much. Just installed a v-limited style front lip that I got from a friend of mine who decided to go a different route with his bugeye.
(Mom's new Subie in the background)
Also installed a set of Kartboy HD rear sway mounts:
Nice units, but my god they make a racket in the back.
That is all for now.

Not that I can find. I've triple checked and nothing seems to be loose.Rope-Pusher wrote:R they loose? Loose to the bar?4onthefloor wrote:Nice units, but my god they make a racket in the back.

Re: 4onthefloor's new wheels
Did you replace big, squishy pillow- blocks with stiff urethane pieces? They will transmit more noise into the body than the originals, but it shouldn't be clunking type noise if they don't add any play. It should be more from tires on grooved pavement, rough pavement, etc. = humming kind of noises.4onthefloor wrote:Not that I can find. Re: 4onthefloor's new wheels
The stock ones weren't the squishy pillow blocks, but they weren't as heavy duty as these ones. The noise is like a thumping noise that comes from the rear over uneven ground (potholes, railroad tracks) or when making a R/H turn (but only right turns, oddly enough). You can feel it through the car as well.Rope-Pusher wrote:Did you replace big, squishy pillow- blocks with stiff urethane pieces? A friend of mine seems to think it's just the sway bar sticking then releasing. I don't know.

Re: 4onthefloor's new wheels
Friction is the enemy of swaybars. They are meant not to be friction dampers. Does the manufacturer say it is safe to lubricate them? (Some materials swell and split when exposed to lubricants). Maybe powdered graphite...can U say "Pinewood Derby Car"? How bad could graphite be...we ARE a carbon life-form, right?4onthefloor wrote:The stock ones weren't the squishy pillow blocks, but they weren't as heavy duty as these ones. Re: 4onthefloor's new wheels
Safe to lube. Came with a grease packet. I thought I greased the crap out of them, but maybe it needs more. I might take them apart and grease them and/or replace them with the factory units.Rope-Pusher wrote:Friction is the enemy of swaybars. They are meant not to be friction dampers. Dipped the fog surrounds. Not sure how I like it, but it peels off so I'm not too worried. Might have to paint the inside of my headlights to complete the look

People always seem surprised by this. It's quite common, up here at least.potownrob wrote:Heated cloth seats?!? Only in Canadia.
Have to have heated everything when it's -27 degrees.

yeah, would be nice to have them here too. Not forking over another $3000+ just to have heated seats...4onthefloor wrote:People always seem surprised by this. It's quite common, up here at least.potownrob wrote:Heated cloth seats?!? Only in Canadia.

Re: 4onthefloor's new wheels
I bet heated cloth seats are much quicker to warm up than heated leather seats.

Re: 4onthefloor's new wheels
Got 'em in our 2008 PT Cruiser. I think it was the first year non-leather heated seats became available on PT. Wish I cudda got heated mirrors too, but they weren't available on any level. If I were King, "Up Nort" packages would be available on every car as an independent option.theholycow wrote:I bet heated cloth seats are much quicker to warm up than heated leather seats.
