And I'm assuming it helps with rearward visibility. All the MKV Golf variants I've driven have somewhat hampered rearward visibility due to the rear headrests.

Re: Watkins' Viggen Pics and Projects
Yup, my MkV's headrests sometimes appear in my rearview mirror. I don't remove them because I occasionally carry passengers, and because I want the car to look as unremarkable as possible.
12 pounds of weight removal doesn't accomplish anything at all.

I like shingle-style headrests that lower right down when not in use (example below: A4 Avant) vs. the ones that stick up (example below: Honda Civic).

Those are kind of in between, I guess--the centre one could really be lower profile (it's probably very rarely used anyways).
I like the camera mount, by the way.

In that pic, the center one is definitely not fully retracted, and the others may be up a notch too.

Re: Watkins' Viggen Pics and Projects
i really hope you didn't take those headrests out just to save weight...thats like people taking out power steering and A\C out because "the unit weighs about 10 pounds and the coolant weighs like 2" you could save that much weight by ripping out the carpet or taking the dumb out of your skull

Re: Watkins' Viggen Pics and Projects
Supposedly the carpet can be pretty heavy. Taking out the headrests would be more like carrying 2 fewer gallons of gas.

Re: Watkins' Viggen Pics and Projects
Question. What did you swap in from your old 9-3? And I want a detailed list, even down to stuff like the ejector seat button

Re: Watkins' Viggen Pics and Projects
-Head unit/GPS and mounting hardware
-Radar detector hardwire kit and Phil himself
-Ejector seat button
-Button I used to use for my secondary fogs (now serves no purpose, but I wasnt going to waste a good thing)
-Ash tray blank. I cut the one in the vert to fit the remote mute button for Phil and the iPod connection for the radio
-Blacked out shift knob cap
-Spare tire
-Wazee forged idler pulley
-Secondary fogs (now Project Sudden Dawn)
-Rear half of the grille. The chrome is in better shape on the Viggen, so I swapped the mesh
-Passenger side front strut tower decorative cover
-Washer fluid and coolant tank caps
-Change organizer/cup holder unit. Easier than taking out the change.
I think that may be it, but I could be mistaken.

Re: Watkins' Viggen Pics and Projects
what did you do with the 9-3 if you took all that stuff off?
