true that. that was one of the things that really suprized me when we yanked out my friends m42 from his e36 318. the intake manifold looks like a cluster f**k of retardation with runners and pipes twisting around and looking all weird and gay, the m50 intake is a much better design, its hard to go wrong with a box with 6 pipes sticking out of it.

its weird how the economy engine gets a twin scroll header and the m50 gets fake cast iron headers that weigh probably 200lb

Hah, yes! btw, I have 2 M50 manifold sitting around ... keeping one for when I or my dad get a 328i. It does wonders on the m52 and s52 ... like 20hp with no tuning.

I swear I have so many random BMW parts, I could probably assemble one from scratch.

m50 swap it. dont waste time on the 4 cylinder, they are useless

hella clean e36 tho.

I dunno about swapping it ... I don't really think it cost effective to do it; much easier and cheaper to just buy a 325 or even a 328 if I ever want more power.

In it's defense though, the m42 is a pretty nice little engine for what it is. Factory header, dual resonance intake manifold, two stage throttle body, hollow cams ... it was built with performance in mind -- it's only downfall really is the lack of displacement.

That last issue is easy to fix with a bore.

Late to the party, but great looking Bimmer. Those mods you made are HUGE improvements IMO and make the car look so much better.

Some do, some don't. Can't please everyone ... I try to please myself first though so ... hah. :D

I know some will also hate the rake (although you can't really tell given the wheel arch design on these cars, but I'm 2.75" down in the front and only 1.5 in the rear compared to stock).

Personally, I would have kept the BMW the way it was, but it is your car and it looks great!
