noob5,000,000's 1986 Mazda RX7, the clean one from Texas

Post by noob5,000,000 »

So a while ago I spotted this car for sale on rotarycarclub, the car looked really clean and everything, but the guy wanted $1500 and it didn't run. I was like 'Sweet, but that's a bit much.' Then eventually the price came all the way down to $500 and I was like 'zomg!' So me and my dad drove down to Texas to pick it up and trailer it back.

The car is a 1986 base model. 4-lug (son to be fixed), no sunroof (I love them that way, that's why I have 2 ) with a solid as hell unibody. It has 82k miles and doesn't run de to electrical issues. The engine is fine and makes good compression, it just won't start. I'm sure I'll have it figured out by tomorrow (I have a few ideas floating around in my head). I'm satisfied with the car, it's definitely worth the 35 miserable hours we spent on the road for it  .

If you bought that from a tire stop, I drove past that every day for a year straight.

Nope. I bought it from the side of a guy's house in Texarkana, and he got it from Louisiana. Where would this tire shop be located :suspect: lol jk.

At least you didn't have to drive very far south. That's right on the Texas border.

Yes, '80s Japanese cars are very FTW. Hopefully I'll have some washed pics tomorrow if it doesn't rain again.

Yes they are. I used the Lay's potato chips analogy, you can't have just one. Old cars with pop-up headlights UNITE!!
paul34 wrote:I don't think those rockers are original, at least, its not the original paint. But it doesn't really matter 8)
If you're referring to the orange peely surface on the rockers, that's normal. I guess it's to prevent rock chips. Every FC I've ever seen has been like that.
