The headlight housings have ballasts and wiring for HIDs?

Over on golfmkv.com they describe stock height as "4x4"... :|

Yep, the ones I want are said to be HID ready, so I'm assuming they have the ballasts. The MKV's are 4x4ish, but not as much as the MKIV's. :(

same here. usually, the housing comes with....well, just the housing. UNLESS, it's one of those combo deals where you get dank headlights with cheapo HIDs

you usually have to buy the "kit" yourself which includes the ballasts and bulbs.

I'm guessing that by "HID Ready", they mean that the housing is ready to accept an HID bulb, not that it includes all the wiring and ballasts and such.

Yeah, I'm sure that's what it means by "HID ready".

Is the housing made specifically for HID bulbs? "HID ready" tells me something else. It tells me that the housing is using projector lens but... a halogen projector lens and an HID projector lens are completely different. If you're gonna do HID right only get HID-specific housing. It really annoys me when people put HID bulbs into halogen projectors or even worse into regular housings with regular reflectors. There's so much glare at night, it's horrible. Makes me wanna punch them in the face.

Idk I prefer to keep my car looking sleeper (can't really help presence of fmic..my ex painted his black lol). Don't really care for non-performance exterior mods.

I agree with focusing on suspension / handling mods. You probably already have wheel hop / torque steer, didn't see any susp mods in your list. Hardest part about having a fwd car with lots of power is traction fail.

Trust me, my next mod will be suspension or FMIC. All the visual stuff (headlights, side markers, etc...) will come after. I'm not about form over function. I want a slightly sleeperish looking fast car.

Oh how the mod list is growing....I picked this up from a fellow dubber at a dub meet here in Hawaii last week. He has a 337 GTI (special edition, you dubbers know what I'm talking about) and he was selling an extra rear valence that happens to be reflex silver, just like my car (and like every 337 ever made). I got it for dirt cheap too b/c it is slightly used, but it looks way better than my stock black rear valence. I'll post some pics after the install.

GTI 337 edition rear valence with single exhaust cutout...which is perfect b/c my exhaust tip is a 337 GTI exhaust tip.

I also picked this up from another dubber today for really cheap:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know it's a little fast and the furious, but hey, it makes my engine bay look nicer and cleaner. :)
And I promise...suspension is next! or maybe FMIC.

What is the purpose of that cover? If you take it off does anything bad happen.

The cover is just there to pretty up the engine bay. It's pretty dirty underneath it. Most 1.8T guys run without engine covers. Some advise against running without one. I just think it looks neat in carbon fiber.
