Rockauto's customer service is great.

When I ordered I forgot to ask for it to be shipped to my jerb; I emailed and they took care of it.

When I got my stuff, the carb kit seemed wrong and had a slightly bent gasket; and the trunk lift gas spring struts don't hold my trunk up. They're sending new struts and refunding me for the carb kit (they would have sent another carb kit but I said I'd rather order a different one anyway) and they don't want me to send the other stuff back.

I actually buy a lot of stuff from Rockauto.com. One time I had an issue with a set of damaged front rotors and they gave me a bit of a hard time with their return policy, but once I escalated the issue, the problem was solved. Other than that one hiccup, they've been great to me.

I've only used Rockauto once because I have a local (CT) Saab parts specialist I order from with free shipping. That was my only complaint about Rockauto: shipping was nuts.

Yes, I have signed up for their newsletter...or maybe I'm getting that via RSS. I haven't seen a code in the newsletter but I did get a code in a separate email today. Also, when I ordered before I used a code I got from http://www.retailmenot.com .

I'm also subscribed to the RSS feeds for closeout parts and new arrivals for my vehicles. However, the closeout part feeds are worthless. Instead of just listing the newly priced closeout parts, they provide complete lists of closeout parts. The result is that two or three times a day I get approximately the same RSS article with a long list of stuff and I don't know what changed from the last one. The new arrival feeds work better.

The shipping cost can be nuts. It helps to order a whole lot of stuff at once, order only things that ship from the same place (indicated in the shopping cart), and still some items just aren't worth shipping from there to New England...some brake rotors, for example, end up costing the same or more vs. buying locally.

I bought thirty dash bulbs. Shipping was a ton, but the total still came to less than my usual source.

I disagree. The Monkeys do not rock.

I just ordered from Rockauto again. Of course I bought a bunch of other stuff in addition to that carb kit. Their strategy of making me happy has successfully caused me to spend more with them than I originally planned.

They're not that old. They started their career as quadruplets, singing in their mother's uterus.

So, update...

The replacement trunk struts worked. My trunk lid finally stays open. No more prop rod. HOORAY!

I put in a new order for the carb kit and a few other things. As with the first order, I ordered one of the most expensive carb kits they have and received the cheapest one they have. I got a different person in customer service this time and he was less willing to work with me, but when I gave him a photograph of the parts in the kit as proof that it is NOT equivalent to the more expensive kit he offered a refund for the kit.

I requested that they remove the more expensive kit from their catalog since they'll only send the cheaper kit anyway, but I got an excuse. :|

Now I have two of the cheaper kit for which I've paid almost nothing (just their portion of the shipping on the rest of the orders), none of the better kit, and a little less satisfaction. For the future I know: Buy the cheapest item in the catalog since they're likely to send it even if you buy the more expensive one.

I expected the trunk struts to be a continued disappointment and the carb kit to work out better.

THC, seems like your recent reviews start out well, and then over the next few days or weeks, you update them with progressively worse news.
