Drag Racing the way it should be.
Drag Racing the way it should be.
I happened to come across a link to a drag racing association that you guys would like. It only allows stick shift cars with no automatics, delay boxes. It is getting back to racing the way it was meant to be. Here is the link if interested in looking at the website. http://www.umtrdragrace.com/

From http://www.staginglight.com/guide/delay.html
The "box", as it is usually called, is an electronic device to aid the driver. The driver can 'dial' a number into the box, called the delay. Usually used in conjunction with a transmission brake and two-step, the driver can hold down a button mounted on his steering wheel, activating the transbrake and two step, and then let go of the button the instant he sees the "first flash" of amber from the first bulb. The delay box will then count the thousandths of a second dictated by the driver, and then release the transbrake and two-step.

WIth that, all you have to do is mash the gas pedal and not even time your launch

That's not cheap at all. Drag racing is never nor has it ever been about which driver is the best. That's NASCAR. Drag Racing is all about which car is the best. Period.
I mean, after all, that's all a tune is today...programming a computer. To say they can't have a computer to help control the launch would be like saying they can't have a computer to control the boost, or the injectors, or whatever.
Just my opinion.

(I do kinda prefer racing where being the better driver matters though. Even though drag racing is cool... I'd think NASCAR would be more fun.)

I like all forms of racing, even though I'll admit NASCAR's at the bottom of the list and Drag Racing's at the top. I guess I like the cars more than the drivers.
So far, you're the only person I've seen on this forum who is more of a smartass than I am, and I didn't think anybody could outdo my endeavors in that department. Bravo, Nychold. Bravo!
