I would tend to say no, since staying in the same place is generally an instrumental part of the burnout process, and an AWD vehicle drives all the wheels, leaving none to hold the vehicle stationary.

Yeah. You may want to consider NOT doing this. Its fun to roast your tires, but you could really screw up your drivetrain with 4WD. Like breaking an axle or bending your shaft. Just be careful.

Roll backwards in neutral, rev up, then light them up. If it doesn't work though, don't force it. Seriously, you look cooler NOT burning out than you do taking the bus. :P

I wouldn't recommend it, but try putting bleach underneath the tires, or just get it slippery.

You'll most likely burn your clutch or something else trying to burnout in an AWD car, but if you have enough power, it's doable, and very beautiful to watch.

AWD burnout

Post by Ro(/\)tary »

It's definetly possible, but not as easily as a RWD burnout. It would have to depend on how powerful the car is, how strong the car's LSD (limited slip differential) is, and how hard you dropped the hammer down.

Bottom line is if you really want to do burnouts, don't get an awd vehicle. Get a fwd or rwd

he talking about an AWD (read) and this thread is 7 months old.. i dont think the guy needs to know if he can or cant do it lol...

also, i think he's tallkng about a BIG burnout w/ all the smoke and all.. not a lil chirp... btw, the only way to do a burnout in an awd is if u hold the breaks and do the backwheels only.. this will kill ur brakes, clutch, transmission and lsd... or u get some crayyp use tires that are almost bald.... so no.. burnouts in an awd is defninatly NOT recommended... drifting is another story :D

Yeah, you can do it. Go ahead and try it out for yourself, you'll get a nice grinding and bending sound, that's ur drivetrain bending, it wont do much to the rest of the car, but why would you ever want to do this. You want to do burnouts, get a third gen car, get some posi, slicks, beef up the engine and lay it down, I can spin the tires into 4th gear in my TA. :D

Don't see how you'll grind/bend your drivetrain in an AWD car... You've got three diffs to transfer power back and forth...

I think the issue is that this would not be a good idea on any surface with semi-decent grip.
