Finally did it, went 9.79et ! Video & pic
It took three long years of suspension, clutch, gear changes and tuning, then I finally did it. Best pass was 9.79 @ 133.7 mph w/ a 1.380 60 foot.
On the 4th of July, a 100+ degree day here in SoCal, I was making passes for my NHRA competition license at AAA Dragway Fontana Ca.
A competition license is required at 9.99 et and quicker.
The vid has 4 of the 6 runs on it. First two (not on vid) are slow runs, then the moderate runs lifting early and 2 full passes are seen on the video

My Camaro has a full interior, front and back seats, carpet, all steel body except the hood and is street driven, well some street. The drag strip is more fun and safer. Lets just say it's streetable, licensed and insured.

Thanks guys.
But it's like an addiction, now I want 9.50's, and I'm thinking with a lil spray it will go high 8's.
I just added a methenol injection kit to cool my intake air charge. Now I can add a lil more boost.
Hoping to make a trip to the track in Oct.

Well, since you've asked Yes, went to the track Oct 11, weather was good DA was 2814' on my only full pass.DocPHD wrote: don't mean to revive a dead thread, but any updates?
This 1st vid I freaked out when the front end stayed in the air so long, blew the 1-2 shift .
Got a new best 60 foot, 1.330!! It came down hard and knocked the blower pipe loose at the hat, no boost for the rest of the run. So I just drove it down the track.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyVb9P2LMFU
What I need to do, is shift 1st to 2nd with the wheels still up. But I tightened up the front shocks instead , killed my 60' back to a 1.37.
Here's the only other pass that day, NEW BEST 9.404 @ 142.5 mph and went 5.98 in the 1/8th, my 1st 5 sec 1/8th!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O68yeamBteI
The http://www.alkycontrol.com/ meth sys and a few other changes really worked!
I can still add a little more boost to go deeper into the 9's, then a little spray for a high 8 second pass
So what do you think? Can I take a street legal 3400 lb car (with a stick) into the eights?
I'm sure going to try

Bracket racing with a stick? That takes some chutzpah. Shame you're a little too good.

What do most drag racers use instead of a stick? I thought most used a stick.
