Notice the heel & toe section to the accelerator pedal. BTW, that isn't my picture, but a stock picture from the company who makes them.

Not my personal car, but this is how it looks. And yes, the gas is really that close to the transmission tunnel. Took a while to get used to it.

Mtheis: What is that in the Tercel, a makeshift accelerator pedal surface? Looks like sheet metal cut and riveted on to the lever.

Quite the variance in spacing between the clutch pedal and the brake pedal for the pedal sets posted so far.

Ever drive in snow boots and catch the edge of the brake pedal when you hit the clutch pedal? That'll wake you up for sure!

My pedals will never have that happen, though boots does mean a good chance that I'll hit the accelerator while braking.

Speaking of sudden unexpected braking, my wife drove automatic for the first time in months the other day and had pretty bad phantom clutch pedal syndrome including both unexpected hard stops and stomping the dead pedal.

That's part of a metal backing plate for a motherboard. It actually covers the existing pedal and clamps around it at the top and bottom. I wanted to get the accelerator closer to the brake and none of the aftermarket crap would work for me.

 I'm sure that would happen to me too, if I had to drive one. Just the fact that an automatic will move forward or backward without you doing anything is dangerous!

Surprising to see quite a few cars without a dead pedal. IMO, a dead pedal should be included on every manual transmission vehicle.

Why would you want a dead pedal? In my opinion, it would just get in the way.
