Re: Your Latest Purchase
I don't have pictures but:
Fun:
Used Gamecube
Copy of Starfox Adventures
GC Memory Card
Total Spent: <$30.
Car:
CIS Compatible Fuel Pressure Tester Kit
Digital Volt/Ohm Meter
Total Spent: >$300.
The upswing to this is that if the fuel injection ever goes out of whack/requires adjustment again, I can fix it.

Re: Your Latest Purchase
I'd be weary of such a large drive. Once it goes kaput, you lose a whole lot of data. What you'd need to do is get another one of those drives, and RAID1 them, or get three more, and RAID10 them for pure pwnage. 4TB, both striped for pure performance, and mirrored for pure protection.
^ Don't mind me, just rambling. You can, of course, do whatever you want with your drive.

I have a 1TB drive. It's a cute little external USB-powered one. I back it up onto two 500GB internals (connected through SATA->USB adapter) periodically.

Re: Your Latest Purchase
I just have a puny 500GB that I keep big shit (ISOs, movies, etc) on so my computers don't slow down.
Actually, come to think of it, that drive is nearly full.
If I get a 1TB for my birthday, then I'll throw the 500GB in the PC to an enclosure and backup the other 500GB.

So when I back-up my drive, do I need to let the clutch out all the way, or just kinda slip it a bit?

Re: Your Latest Purchase
It depends if your drive will drive over a speed bump while you back it up. However, as a general rule, these drives should not be used where there are speed bumps, and the eSATA clutch should remain fully engaged until you eject it in Windows first.

You still have a floppy drive?paul34 wrote:I could get rid of the floppy
I think the last time I used a computer that had a functional floppy drive was 1999.

Re: Your Latest Purchase
If you have to reinstall WinXP and you have a SCSI or RAID card, then you'd be screwed if you don't have a floppy.1974Alfa5spd wrote:You still have a floppy drive?paul34 wrote:I could get rid of the floppy

Not so. It's actually pretty easy to integrate:six wrote:If you have to reinstall WinXP and you have a SCSI or RAID card, then you'd be screwed if you don't have a floppy.
