I only addressed highway driving because that's the only time when small aerodynamic improvements can make a measurable difference.

I was definitely not supporting the practice of not brushing snow off...I hate hate HATE when people are too damned lazy to brush the snow off, as I mentioned earlier in the thread.

30 pounds on a 3000 pound car is 1%. In all seriousness, your fuel economy varies a lot more than 1% due to climate and varying driving styles and whatnot.

So no, there's not going to be any appreciable MPG change.

Anyone wanting to lose little bits of weight should drive around with less gas. A full tank of gas is pretty heavy...one gallon weighs as much as OzZyMaN2438's whole back seat.

Yes but then your fuel pump MIGHT not get cooled. I guess running with 3/4 tank down is good?

It's not about the pick-up, it's about submerging enough of the pump to keep it cool.

However, we're talking about people who are willing to sacrifice and risk to remove weight, people who are willing to risk geting stuck roadside without a spare tire and having to pay highway robbery price for a tow and a new tire or whatever...and I wasn't suggesting running the tank THAT low anyway.
