a viper? who would've thought, pretty badass

the rev limiter hurt my heart a good bit though. from the comments, it seems like people are blaming it on the fact that the car wasn't geared for the track. i just thought he wasn't good enough

the driver wasnt familiar with the car. the 722 lap was his 3rd lap in the ACR. pretty badass. the reason for 4th gear down the straightaway is he was facing very strong headwind, and when you got so much downforce (read: drag) combined with the headwing, he didnt have enough torque in 5th and 6th to use them on the straightaway.

722 is an amazing lap, if the car was dialed in a little better for the ring, i can see 5 seconds being shaved off that easily

Awful driving. Bouncing off the limiter. At first I hoped it was the case of a primitive us sports muscle car not having a lock-up diff. An amazing lap you say?

What would you call 1m 39.023s then?

dude are you on crack or something seriously read the acr is a car that you can buy at a dealership, same with teh zr1 and the gtr those are the cars with the 7:22-30 times its not being compared frigging purpose built race cars, you can drive the acr, zr1 and gtr on the street and they can clear a speed bump im not so sure you can legally drive that puegot on the street or if it can clear a pothole or a speedbump

Naturally, besides the Peugeot 908 Le Mans racer there is also the Peugeot 908 RC prototype:

http://mediatheque.peugeot-pressepro.co ... 8RC_EN.pdf

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7reFkH4hiM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwfaA-P77rI

With the same 100 degrees, 5.5 litre v12 HDi engine developing 700 PS. 383.33 bhp/ton, 1200 Nm peak torque.

It is the likely precursor of the Peugeot 608 due to be launched in 2009. The engine isn't likely to be offered, though. At least not in its race tune state.

Know how I know you're gay, SonyAD.....?

lol seriously though, I click the frontpage link expecting a hot Viper and I get a page of Peugeot. What a rip.

And driving skill aside, that Viper is still BADASS. I'd rather have one of those than any ten Le Mans cars.

I like the ACR too. It whooped (in terms of numbers) all other cars in its class (and out of its class) during the handling extravaganza in the new MotorTrend. Plus it looks mean as hell and sounds just as bad ass.

Actually, I beg to differ. In most of the cases that I saw the guy bouncing off the rev-limiter, it would have hurt his time more if he had shifted up, only to immediately shift down again for the turn. That momentary shift would not have increased his speed nor benefit the time it would take him to setup for the turn. It was a smart move, and proof that the ACR needed more tuning specific to the track. I do that all the time in racing games like Forza and Gran Turismo, especially with super-high powered cars like the ACR, because the benefit in time saved from not having to do the extra shift outweighs the "correctness" of shifting that extra gear needlessly.
