so you almost forgot to make it incorrect? apostrophes are for possession and contractions, not pluralization. pms would be correct, PMs would be more correct. nobody knows how to use apostrophes properly... i even see mistakes with them in published novels all the time. Stephen King is about the only author where i've never noticed an incorrect apostrophe.wannabe wrote:i get pm's all the time (pms...i almost forgot the apostrophe)

I don't work Fridays
Honestly, the extra long weekend is nice but sometimes I think I'd really like to be making the extra money an additional day a week would provide.

You, sir, are a noob. It may not be totally correct but it's better when you don't want noobs to mistake that the pluralization is part of the name, such as M16A2s. M16A2's.jomotopia wrote:so you almost forgot to make it incorrect? apostrophes are for possession and contractions, not pluralization. pms would be correct, PMs would be more correct. nobody knows how to use apostrophes properly... i even see mistakes with them in published novels all the time. Upper case letters need no apostrophe when there is no risk of misreading: I got three As in my exams,[22] except possibly at the start of a sentence: A's are the highest marks achievable in these exams.

everything in that section of that article agrees with me. it simply says "some writers choose" etc., other than this "It is generally acceptable to use apostrophes to show plurals of single lower-case letters"... which is understandable but still not technically correct.Leedeth wrote:You, sir, are a noob.
