New Infiniti G35 6MT in Cleveland
Hey folks, thanks for setting up this site! I'm a lifelong slushie driver who just bought a 6-speed infiniti G35 coupe. By reading this site and watching some videos, I was able to test drive serveral cars and then choose the car I like. I will be picking up the car saturday.
For now I'm still stalling alot and my starts, upshifts and downshifts are still very very jerky, but I hope to get better once I'm driving the car every day.
I'll probably be asking lots of stupid questions so thanks in advance for your patience.

yeah, thats probably the best thing about here. I've been on other forums, where the only two words in their vocabulary are "SEARCH NOOB!"lordhamster wrote:Thanks, this site is awsome. I've read lots of posts on here and am amazed at how kind the posters here are to noobs. Most internet forums are very hostile, this seems to be a friendly place.jomotopia wrote:welcome to the site nice car
its like "wtf is there a forum for if all I'm supposed to do is search"

EXACTLY! Plus, even if you do a search, if you don't have the right terminology, you won't find what you are looking for!... Or you may find 10,000 threads none of which are the best. I always think its better to point the Noobs to good threads or FAQs without getting snippy.eaglecatcher wrote:yeah, thats probably the best thing about here. The other day I was searching a forum on how to "debadge" a car. But I was searching for "remove emblems" or "remove symbols". I would NEVER have found a result if I didn't stumble across another user being called a n00b and one guy being kind enough to point to the correct thread.

Uggh.
SEARCH MF N00B!!
Seriously, welcome aboard, and can I just say...I hate you. I've always loved the G35, and in a stick...that thing's gotta be a beast.
But really, the people here are very laid back. It's really IMHO the best forum on the web, even for just shooting the sh*t. No up tight moderators, no insane forum-zealots, no blatherskiting idiots (well, OCCASIONALLY we get them, but they disappear quickly). Just general, all around nice people.

That Wiki article is ownage.
Most forums just get a lot of everyone just posting "ZOMG HOW DO I LIEK FIER MY RIFEL?!?!" so the forumites are bound to develop an equal and opposite reaction. At least do some basic search, read the stickies, FAQs, etc.
IMO, stick shifting is a complex skill, and though the questions may be quite the same, the answers often need to be custom tailored for each individual.
Now...GBTFW!

None of these are things you should really be doing when you're driving anywaylordhamster wrote:Now the only problem I'm going to have driving a manual is this:
How do I:
- Eat my Big Mac while driving
while arguing with my wife on my cell
while taking notes on my upcoming business meeting
while adjusting my gps
and shift?

Hey there lordhamster! Good to have you with us and welcome to SS!
I am in love with the G35 sedan 6MT - I plan on it being my next car if, you know, gas is still around and all. The coupe is a beautiful machine too - almost as good as a Mazda3.
As you've already figured, this is a friendly and opened forum - kinda different from the other ones. So ask those questions away, and the only n00bs out there drive autos and are scared of driving stick.
