New-ish guy from Indiana

Greetings,
Back towards the end of 2012 I started wanting to drive a car with a manual transmission - the PRND32 was just getting boring. I had and have been driving a 1996 Saturn SL2 automatic. That thing is very easy to work on, cheap to fix, gets good gas mileage, etc. - I love it. Whatever I did to get a manual, it was going to be another Saturn S-Series. That left me with swapping the automatic transmission out for a manual or getting another one already equipped with a manual. An ideal candidate popped up on Craigslist for next to nothing because it had been damaged by neglecting to check the oil level. Instead of swapping the transmission and associated components, it got a full rebuild (of which I have many many pictures, details, lists, and such if there's interest in that stuff here). I started it up for the first time on April 19th, and after working out all the final quirks was able to start driving on the 26th. This site kept coming up while searching for things related to driving a stick-shift, so after a bit of lurking here's my introduction. Thanks for such a great site!

Welcome! There are more than a handful of old cars that need plenty of maintenance around here. And a few that just get ignored and driven anyway

It's being phased out, but yes. I still prefer it for downtown driving or anywhere where I have to do lots of hill launches.
