I love this site. I've lurked for a while just checking it out, and had to join. There is not much that could be cooler than a site dedicated to the one thing that I must have in any vehicle that I own.
I've been driving for 14 years, and there is nothing that any automatic can do to make me like it. I see it this way- I drive them, wash them, change their oil and take care of anything else that they need. If I can handle all of this, I think I can select my own blasted gear. Computers and electronic shift modules don't know what I'm thinking, feeling or seeing. Only I do, and a real manual transmission is the only way to really be in full control and get the most out of my vehicles.
In the last year, I have happily chalked up two new vehicle sales for the stick shift. In August, 2010, my wife got her new Jetta with a five-speed right off the lot. When I bought my Dodge Ram two months ago, they had to order it in for me from another dealer. Getting a stick was not a major issue (with the diesel), but finding a regular cab with a stick was! I didn't realize just how scarce regular cab trucks have become. Still, I give a big thumbs-up to Ram, the only ones still building a REAL full-size truck.
Sorry for the long-winded intro. I just love all things stick shift, and I look forward to enjoying the site. ~Jim

Welcome!
I've never been a fan of Chrysler products but I have to give them credit for offering row-your-own gearboxen when everybody else gave up.
I was very happy with my 2008 VW's 2.5, except for the way the drive-by-wire throttle was programmed.
Anyway, thank you for keeping the market alive!
(Edit: Didn't mean to sound like a jerk, just trying to make conversation.)

Re: New member from PA
Thanks for the welcomes. My truck is bright silver metallic. I really wanted timberline green metallic, but there were none to be found. Buying in May, it was late in the model year and I almost had to wait and order a 2012. My dealer found my truck about 250 miles away. I'm glad I was able to get a 2011, they gave me a good deal.
I'm still working on figuring out how to post pictures. My pics are saved to my computer in JPEG form. I'll work on it and get some pictures up soon. ~Jim

The best way to post pictures is to upload them to a site such as Photobucket.com , Icanhasimage.com , tinypic.com , etc. The site provides you with the image URL preformatted with bbcode that you can just paste into a post.
