Newb from TN

Post by 2.9xlt »

Just wanted to say hi to the fellow stickshift drivers.

I just prefer manuals over automatics because they're more fun to drive, cheaper to fix, easier to fix, and you have much more control over the engine.

I have an 2wd '87 Ranger with a 2.9 and the 5 speed. I've also converted two automatics over to 5 speeds so I reduced the automatic population .

GODDAMN, man. Now that's the way you introduce yourself.

Awesome cars. I loved the ranger, then I scrolled down and was like, "fox body 'vert conversion! WOO!" then I scrolled further down, saw the cobra engine swap, and my brain melted a little. Welcome to the site, and once again, impressive and amazing work!

Welcome.

That Ranger is ridiculously clean, I can't imagine an '87 like that.

The Lincoln is just a huge amount of win. I love it.

Got any advice for a guy who shouldn't be doing a manual conversion but is going to do it on a car that shouldn't get a manual conversion? I'm not good at this stuff but I'm planning to convert my 1980 Buick LeSabre...

Thanks for the great welcome everybody, yeah a ss was the last thing anyone expected to see in the Lincoln lol. It was an easy swap though since Mark VII is a fox body. I really like manuals in cars you wouldn't expect it in. There was a number of cars you could get a shift in over the years, but hardly anyone ordered it.

Yeah I do, since a LeSabre is the same platform as Caprice you can probably use this conversion kit.

Oh man, that's a dream right there. I've seen the site before but I don't think I could afford a single screw from them.
