What's uuuupppp?

Post by AKai47 »

Hi! My name is Jessica. I drive a 2009 MINI Cooper. Not S, waaayyy too much power for me.

My baby (read: car)'s name is Basil and he's got just over 2,500 miles on him. Bought him in June of this year. He's my first stick shift car, migrated over from a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I got for graduating High School. Had to get rid of the Jeep, was nothing short of a lemon!

So I love my car to death. Obviously, or I wouldn't have given it a 'name' or 'gender'. I confuse my coworkers when I call my car by name.

But anyways! Learning a stick shift was great fun. I definitely prefer it to an automatic. I will admit that I do still have some trouble with first gear (would like to request some assistance but will do so in more detail later), but otherwise it's great. Absolutely great.

So... once again, hi! I'm quite eager to be a part of these boards. Looking forward to replies and hope everyone is doing well! :) Take care!!

Greetings and welcome! I'm in a constant battle with LHOswald to be the resident double-clutcher and with Watkins to be the resident Viggen driver. I'm actually the resident neither. But I often demand pictures of new members' cars. On that note, I demand pictures!

Maybe it's also because you say stuff like
LHOswald wrote:haha i still love you though >.< we can double clutch our way to heaven together ;)

The above is a perfect example of the stuff wannabe has to clean up after, by the way.

Oh, and love you too, LHOswald!

Jessica, is there some story behind the name 'Basil'? I can only think of the guy in the Austin Powers movies...

Welcome!

Naming a car is a sign of love. My girl is named White Castle.

I too love Mini Coopers, very solid, very engaging cars. My mom has an 07 (i think) Mini Cooper S I drive when I'm back in Michigan, and I always enjoy it. Funnest FWD car I've ever driven. Ask all the questions you want, someone smart here will answer them (not me .)

Welcome! I am the resident Viggen driver of who RIT speaks.

Is Basil pronounced the fancy-pants British way with a soft "a" or the rough American way with a hard "a"?

Welcome to the group. Nice to see a MINI driver here, as I think you may be the first! They are cool cars; I've always wanted to drive one.

As for me I play music, drive and fix cars and bikes.
Nothing else. No sleeping, eating, using the computer, listening to music, talking, breathing. Nothing. Not even spraining my ankle.

:?

Enjoy your stay. :D

Welcome to the forums I am the resident guy who lost his MX-3, and now has a crude Firebird that is heavy and slow, when the MX-3 was light and slow.

6-speed? Nice.

Haha, thank you so much for the warm welcome! :)

Yes, I named my car after the character from Austin Powers, Basil. It is pronounced with a soft 'a' unlike the actual herb. :) People pronounce it both ways though and I don't really mind. Maybe you can see how much I love Austin Powers with how my car looks:

(this was before I got the roof decal put on. Link because the picture is ridiculously huge.)

If you can't see it, maybe this will help jog your memory.

Although the colours may be off this is what I'm going for. Eventually. :)

White Castle is by far the best restaurant eveeerrr in my opinion. Love it!
And for my other hobbies... I am an artist, writer, video game nerd... I work at Geek Squad fixing computers for a living. :)

The other MINI driver here is carsncars.

That is a *very* snazzy MINI. The British flags on the side mirrors might be a bit much, though.

I'm pretty sure British people having a MINI covered in British flags is equivalent to this for Americans:

The Brits don't look trashy though.
