I actually don't think there is. I've known of people who tried before, but it doesn't look like it. Most people just let their profiles wither away into oblivion.

Is there anything we can do to get you out of here it a shiny new StandardShift?

You'll have to PM an admin. I don't see the point of deleting your account if there's no hard feelings though. Why not just leave it, in case you decide to drop back into the SS routine someday?

why delete your account? why not just not use it anymore? we wouldn't want all your old posts to disappear as some of them may be helpful to other members.

Deleting a user deletes their past posts? :(

i'm not 100% sure. it may leave the posts and just have no link to a user profile. either way i don't really see a point in deleting an account.

In most cases the posts remain intact, but the link to the user profile disappears. That's one of the reasons why I have never understood these "I'm leaving! Delete my account!" people. If you don't want to come back, just don't come back. If you want to make sure you won't come back accidentally, change the password to something that you can't remember.

Then there's the separate breed of users who want all their posts deleted as well. In some cases, such as legal issues, I can understand it, but usually there's nothing to justify the removal of text user has contributed to the forum. Even though the copyright is usually retained, you don't really "own" the posts anymore. They are part of the forum and its threads, might have been quoted etc. That's why deleting or defacing one's own posts is usually forbidden in forum rules.

Oh, and I have never seen a forum in which you can actually delete your own account. Usually there's no option, but one of the forums I frequent has a custom software that allows you to "close" your account. It's under "drastic options" and equals to banning. The text on the site was actually quite amusing, so I took a screenshot.

Nice, watkins. I was just thinking of listening to that earlier!

Many of us have had a lack of time, and re-appeared here spontaneously.

Not quite sure why you need to delete the account rather than just leaving it to fade away like all the other former members.
