New Standardshifter

Post by Maxwell7301 »

Hi everyone!

I'm a college student from Buffalo, NY, and I drive a 5 speed manual 2008 Subaru Impreza.

When I got the car in September, I basically had no idea how to drive it. Thanks to the advice on this board, driving the car feels like second nature. I'm basically having no trouble at all getting through the snowy winter, and the all wheel drive probably helps quite a bit.

I've been lurking on this board long enough, and it's definitely time to start posting.

I've been thinking about changing it. When I made it, I was so happy with it that I figured it was perfect and I'd never change it (and I used it on every forum I'm on), but it really looks more obnoxious than I want for it to represent me.

Should I go with a peforated cow or a divine bovine?

I say divine bovine.

I like the one on the bottom left.

Since this is already derailed, any reasoning behind the screen name? I always wondered...

Well, I've always liked cows. Back in 1992 I started using BBSes and the not-yet-popular internet, and needed a username, so it started with a play on the phrase "Holy cow!" and stuck, being relatively unique (I'm not the only one using it, but there's not many). Then I found out that the initials THC meant something else entirely; that bothered me for a short time but it wasn't long before I was an appropriate age to appreciate that. I grew out of that but continued to keep the name...

ASCII art signatures don't work so well these days, but here's how I signed my BBS posts...

Excellent. Truthfully I expected something more anti-climatic along the lines of 'I was high and I heard it on TV'.

Wow, I'm impressed with the enthusiasm here. :D

Anyway, I'll post some pics of the car from September, before it got all cold and snowy here.

It may not be a WRX, but I'm still really happy with the car. It is my first manual car, and it performs great in the snow.
