Greetings, another noob with a stick!

Post by zorlaaq »

Hey everyone,

Just got my first manual a couple weeks ago. She's a '04 Nissan Maxima 6MT, and I must say that she's quite a feisty piece of steel. Anyways, I've committed some atrocities to my clutch and transmission over the past several weeks, so it seemed logical to join this forum and educate myself. I look forward to meeting everyone and hopefully prolonging the life of my transmission.

P.S. - To anyone who has a 6th generation Maxima MT, let me know what (if any) issues this model has concerning the drivetrain.

Thanks! :D

Hey! Welcome aboard, and let me just say be thankful you didn't get the Altima. My brother's wife has a 2004 (I think) Altima, and within a year of purchasing it, the crankshaft position sensor went bad on it. Manufacturer defect, but they won't replace it. Just reprogram the computer to anticipate it. WTF? Anyway, PITA motor to work on.

Glad to you hear you're "maning" (womaning?) up to shifting your own gears. Plenty of good information in the FAQ, and in the members, so if you have questions, feel free. You won't be blasted for asking a question already asked here. :D

I wonder what would happen if your parents all happened upon this thread. Or any number of other threads involving moms and Tony and watkins. I don't think any two relatives in a family other than husbands/wives are on this forum however.

My parents: laugh probably. Lets put it this way: We have a sign on the front door which reads "Due to recent cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off"

I have a better chance of become a Chinese Emperor than my parents finding this, but if they did they'd laugh.

Thanks for the introductions. Certainly seems like an interesting bunch here. Hell, my parents would be happy if they found this - they might be surprised to find that I am actually concerned with the longevity of the car they just bought. Imagine that
