Rev It Up was AMAZING!
We have pictures and video, and it'll be loaded up soon.
A bit of a slow start, as rain put a damper on things. Once the clouds cleared, the carnage began . . .
There were several cone-tracks set up: the competition track (with automatic Cobalts), the practice track (auto and manual supercharged Cobalts), the drag strip (Impala SS and Trailblazer LS2), the performance track (Corvette LS2) and the test track (Cobalt SS, Impala SS, Trailblazer LS2, Silverado, Equinox, Tahoe, & HHR).
We spent most of our time at the test track, as it was the longest course and had the shortest lines. We thrashed the absolute hell out of the Silverado and Tahoe trucks, and will have videos of that up soon. The HHR and Impala were a hoot as well - the HHR handles surprisingly well.
The Corvette's were a blast, but you could only do the course twice. Except I did it four times. Definitely fun!
Now here's the real clincher. Thousands of people entered into the competition track, with was indexed by a pro driver at 35.2 seconds (in the wet). I pulled a 43.1 on my first run, and a 38.1 on my second run. The second time landed me a #17 position on the overall times for everyone that day!
The top 25 drivers competed at the end of the day on the same course in Corvette's. Whoever won that competed against 6 other drivers from 6 other cities for a 2007 Z06.
Unfortunately, by the end of the evening I was down to the 25th spot, and at the 11th hour, someone ran a better time then me. No competing here.
Still an incredibly fun day! Well worth double what we paid to go ($25). Pictures and videos soon!
