Let the updates commence...
Upgraded board, was long overdue...

I liked our old 3-on-the-tree site.

It'll definitely take some getting used to the new skin. Are there any options for switching skins? This one makes me feel like I'm at a scam google results site...the old one just felt like an aging forum.

Re: Let the updates commence...
The user information on the right side of posts just rubs me the wrong way. I've encountered no boards like that ever lol But, change is for the better, new software, new features, better security, right?

The avatars and stuff on the right side is tripping me out.

Re: Let the updates commence...
Just using the default theme for now. User info to the right is the latest best practice...same goes with nav on the right on many sites nowadays. Will dig into the structure shortly.
Biggest advantage is mobile-friendly along with compatibility with new modules.
Themes improvements and page integrations next.

I was confused when I loaded the site. However, I thought it was because of my silly work computer + 3 gen back browser. Glad it's not just me.
I agree that the info on the right seems odd, though that's just because habit. This should also help us in the long run if it is more mobile friendly since Google changed their search policies to benefit sites with mobile versions.

Re: Let the updates commence...
Oh god no!
I liked the simplicity of the old design. It was just easy to use.
I definitely dont like the user info on the right. I could probably live with the rest of it if not for that. We read from left to right. I like to see who is making a post before reading the post. Reading the right side then going back to the left is weird. I know the user info is at the top of the post as well, but I identify people by their avatar pictures more often than not.

Would we be able to get standardshift on Tapatalk any time soon? I rarely use a browser to get to any forums these days.

I use a combo of quick glance at the avatar plus the person's signature to notice who is posting without actually looking at the name.watkins wrote:Oh god no!

SS did say theme improvements were still coming, perhaps things might change again. Though user info on the right is apparently best practice now...?

Re: Let the updates commence...
It does raise the question: why is info on the right considered best practice these days?

I wondered that too and all that came to mind is that in a mobile view it might help to have main content on the left side so that you don't have to pan past metadata just to see it.
