Seems like the general consensus is it might be beneficial to have another mod here. Just throwing it out there, but I feel like, especially since John seems to have left or is currently (for the last 3 months) preoccupied, we could use another mod to help keep things tidied up around here.

Opinions?

Side-note: I'm in no way belittling the job of Jomo or IMBoring or Standardshifter, and I do know that they frequent still, but I still think there should be a slightly stronger moderator presence on here to keep things relevant and remove the gross things that get posted.

I nominate paul34 he is neutral, won't abuse his power like some people.

I don't know how much longer I will stick around on SS because of the recent inappropriate postings from one particular member. As I remember, this same exact thing happened back in January of this year. These kinds of things used to be civilized. Get it under control or I'm out.

With that said, I nominate Tony for mod.

My vote goes to Cow-of-higher-power and perhaps Ashish. Both are well respected (most of the time) and keep level heads. Importantly of course, they both frequent here nearly as much as I do. Id throw Tony in the mix, but one never knows when he will end up traveling for months at a time and be unable to moderate from the road.

If someone does end up getting mod powers, I think the following criteria need to be considered:
- Level headed.
- Consistent in judgment.
- Able to keep personal squabbles separate from moderator duties. That is to say, no post deleting or banning just for not liking someone.
- Very frequent visitor.
- Veteran membership. New kids have not seen what happens when things go out of control. Last time we lost some really fantastic members because of some immature behavior and personal attacks. Im talking about the serious stuff, not me and Tony going on about each other's mothers; death threats and the like.
- Decent post count. Just because someone has been here for a long time doesnt mean theyre a real member of the community.
- Intentions of hanging around. No point in making someone a mod if they dont want to stay here much longer. We would be at rock bottom all over again.

if we were to cast a vote, definitely THC or rope pusher. both very level headed, intelligent (or maybe its some other word...weird perhaps?) and have both been here awhile and won't get wrapped up in one side of an argument over some dumb shit...double clutching on the other hand....

Pope-abuser unfortunately hasnt been here all that long. At least not long enough to know old SS and have seen it through the PMS time. At least I dont think he was.

THC's been here since June '08. I thought he had been here longer but I guess I was wrong.

I don't think we need another mod. This forum is fairly tame compared to other forums. Maybe I'm wrong.
