Counter Wieght Shift Knob....

Post by Dammit Cubs »

is it worth it?

i was looking at a shift knob weighting twice as much as a normal shift knob. Aren't you putting excessing weight on your shifter?

no your not, it wont hurt anything by having it on.

but if your so weak that simple shifting is so brutally hard that you need a counterweight knob, your too weak to be driving

and dont go to the zone ricer isle and buy one of those ricer knobs. if you drove a civic, maybe, but not in a evo.

Them counterweight knobs are usually used for short shifters to restore the natural shift effort.

How is a counter weight shift knob different from regular shift knob?

It just sounds fancy to me.

I was just going to get a difference shift knob because I just wanted to try a different feel.

Wouldn't shift effort be mostly determined by the length of the shifter instead? (more leverage)

when i was changing my handbrake cable i drove around for a day or 2 with my whole center console taken apart while i was waiting for the new cable to get here

my shifter didnt have the boot or the knob. just a metal stick sticking out of the floor with threads on top.

didnt feel no difference. i actually liked it better because it felt more notcher (no padded knob to smooth it out)

Those actually do work. I have one on my GTO from twmperformance.com.
I drive a Phantom Black 2005 GTO M6. I commute in a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited.
