Re: Are European cars as bad as they say?
In all honesty I'm not an overall huge fan of the Mazdas design. I like working on my own cars so I don't want to go new and I wasn't really a huge fan of the older 3s. I did find them ergonomically comfortable.
The only Subaru I'd consider getting is the Legacy wagon turbo or a WRX. Other than that you're really looking at something I already have. A pedestrian vehicle. At least the euro counterpart might have some excitement in it.
One thing I've considered was an Accord V6. The Accord has some sport to it.
Big issue is the price as well...

I'm actually going to take a look at a Scion FR-S. Just the price is a bit steep...Would definitely need to wait a year or two to purchase one.

Lemme reword that: the brz can be had in much nicer trim than the fr-s. The base models are similar.

Re: Are European cars as bad as they say?
Does the BRZ do it the same way as Scion where you can literally add exactly what you want to it from their list of addons? Or do they have trim groupings where they add sets of tech/nicities together (think like a normal car with S, SE, etc...)?potownrob wrote:Lemme reword that: the brz can be had in much nicer trim than the fr-s. Subaru is still pretty risky. Some of their motors still love to eat head gaskets.

They still haven't fixed that? I wonder how the new 2.0 will hold up.AHTOXA wrote:Subaru is still pretty risky. Some of their motors still love to eat head gaskets.

Re: Are European cars as bad as they say?
pretty sure they fixed that issue by the end of the last decade, and the newer engines don't have it as far as i've heard. the more current issue has been oil consumption, which has affected the lowerend n/a 2 litre (fb20) and 2.5 litre (fb25) engines in the impreza, forester and legacy/outback. supposedly, they fixed the fb20 engine, but the fb25 fix apparently may not have done the trick, and there's still talk of oil consumption issues in those engines. subaru has replaced lots of these engines. looking on the forums though, the issue seems to have been blown out of proportion. as for the fa20 engines in the brz/fr-s, new wrx and forester turbo, this is a different engine series (albeit based on the fb engine) and i haven't heard of oil issues with those engines.bk7794 wrote:They still haven't fixed that?
