I'm going to get a Ferrari to tow trailers, and a Lamborghini to haul bricks.

^ That's a good idea son, since you'll be shiiting bricks whenever you drive the Lambo.

my stream of consciousness/running commentary on this list :P

i still don't understand why the audi tt is automatic only now.
i haven't been keeping up with GM's product line very closely, so naturally i had no idea what the f**k half those chevy's are. the orlando looks horrible.
no more ford pickups?
i'm impressed with hyundai - looks like they offer nearly the entirety of their product line with a manual
no nissan maxima? do they even make the maxima any more? haha
lol, the nissan juke exists. no more cube though? or do they just not make them with any transmission any more?
toyota camrys are finally automatic exclusive, huh? it's not like anyone bought them with manuals to begin with.

Pickups in general have been losing manuals. :x

I was surprised to see that Ford has more models than Honda (unless you want to count the Accord which is listed twice as coupe and sedan).

Not sure if you noticed, but lots of cars are counted multiple times on that list. Look at Audi & Subaru, for example. What's up with that? Makes the list look longer, I guess.

AUDI R8 COUPE
AUDI R8 COUPE
AUDI R8 SPYDER
AUDI R8 SPYDER

SUBARU IMPREZA AWD
SUBARU IMPREZA AWD
SUBARU LEGACY AWD
SUBARU LEGACY AWD
SUBARU OUTBACK AWD
SUBARU WRX AWD
SUBARU WRX AWD
SUBARU WRX STI AWD
SUBARU WRX STI AWD

And then you have Porsche. 26 cars on their list and 18 of them are 911 variants. The entire list would look much smaller if duplicated cars were omitted and coupe/sedan/convertible/special edition of the same base car were considered one car. BMW is another manufacturer with a long list, but for them it really boils down to 4 cars: 1-series, 3-series, 6-series, and the Z4.

Wow..didn't realize that either. That's truly a shame. I guess dual-clutch automatics are starting to gain even more ground.

Maxima moved to CVT a couple of years ago. My neighbor traded in his manual trans Altima for a CVT Maxima and he tells me that he hates it and made a big mistake with the Maxima.

My understanding was that Honda officially changed the name of the coupe to Accord Coupe a couple years ago. I'm thinking this happened when they stopped sharing sheet metal. At least this is what I thought I read on their website a number of years ago. Not even the 03-07 Accord/Accord Coupe share sheet metal.

I'm actually kind of interested in the Chevy Sonic. Decent looking car and a 6 speed manual tied to a 1.4L turbocharged engine.

It will be interesting to see if it lives up to how I envision it in my mind...

Sorry I didn't filter the list entirely. They have duplicates for sedans and wagons, or between the R8 8 cylinder and 10 cylinder. I already filtered out a bunch, Natural Resources Canada considers a DCT a manual transmission which I had to bleep out.

As I said...

The Chevy Orlando is a Canadian only car. GM decided Americans weren't interested in a compact 7 seater.

Nissan Cube may have been given the shaft for 2012 with Nissan's limited manufacturing capabilities. It'll likely come back in 2013, but it was a bit of a sales flop.

And yea, they stopped selling Camries with manual in Canada in 2011 MY, and now finally in the US as well in 2012 MY.

Yeah, we weren't complaining about your post, but just discussing the raw list. Don't worry about us seeing the repeats before you clean them up.

Also...brb going to Canada to get GM version of Mazda5, a practical and economical concept that just can't compete with the image of the SUV. After all, who doesn't want to feel like this

Yeah, I understand completely. I guess my point is that there really aren't as many manual trans vehicles available as it may seem by a quick glance at the list. I suppose we should all be thankful that we still have a list at all...
