Anybody interested in a Ford Mustang should check out the Mitsubishi Eclipse. They are plentiful in the preowned market, cheaper, and Japanese.

i cant believe mustang bashers are bashing mustangs and standing behind saabs and stuff lol. come on! sheesh. if it aint RWD and V8..it aint a real car imho. I dont care if its a BMW or w/e.. it has to be V8, LOUD, quick to go sideways and american.
my cheap ole car' takes out most the expensive cars at the track. come on, dudes spend like 10 grand on their car, i spend like 600 and i STILL take them out...and 200 of those dollars was just for buying drag radials off craigslist.. a geared/drag radiald' mustang will give almost any car you'll see out there a good run...unless its a camaro...cheap designed, ugly POS but i'll hand it to em'..they'll git up n' go

I don't really like many American cars, but one of the few exceptions is the '03-'04 Mustang Cobra. Those things are the sex.

The only other American cars I can think of off-hand that I like are the Z06 and obviously the ZR1.

thats why you get an AWD one, put a boost controller on it, and run 12s all day, dont matter what tires you got on.

Man, there are some strong sentiments in this thread. I won't even try to argue with people as to what is beautiful and what isn't, because I myself am guilty of finding foxbody Mustangs beautiful. I just can't help it. But what can be measured is performance, and plenty of recent American cars perform. And I'm not talking about how nice the seats smell, I'm focusing solely on vehicle performance. Smells like a list to me.

Nice American Cars 2009
A list by Eggwich

1. Corvette destroys all.
2. Pontiac G* GT or GXP
3. Camaro any model any trim
4. Ford Fusion, I4 or V6 (maybe it's just me)
5. Cadillac CTS, CTS-V

Okay, that's five, and one is actually a 2010 model, but so what. I'm not saying there aren't great foreign cars being made as well, because there are, I'm just saying there are some US products that perform. I am somewhat resigned to the fact that interiors in US cars don't compare well with foreign competitors. I'm loving the Volkswagen CC right now, I'd look pretty cool in that.
