I thought the 3000GT was awd. Did they have a rwd version too?

Since this is a cheap list it shouldn't include new cars. When I think "cheap" I think less than $10,000, too. $10,000 and less are prices that most people can think about paying in cash, instead of financing.

When I first saw this thread I did think of a different kind of cheap though. $2000 or less is another kind of cheap, you can usually find running, but not very good looking, cars for that much. I also know people who're currently driving cars they bought for less than $500; the cars weren't running when my friends got them and they look like shit, but they're beasts now. So there's different kinds of cheap.

D'oh. They weren't all AWD, but the ones that weren't were FWD. Sorry about that one. The rest of the list should be good. I'm more familiar with all those.

No it's all good, I want cars that are not FWD. So AWD is acceptable as well.

Impreza

That being the case, pretty much everything Subaru ever made qualifies...Impreza, SVX, Legacy, Baja, Brat, Forester...

I view drivetrain choices the same way I view transmission choices.

Standard = RWD or AWD

Auto = FWD

They both can provide the same amount of power but I prefer RWD because it can drift and you can do stuff that you can't do in a FWD.

AWD DSMs. Reliability problems aside, they're fast and cheap.

Hey I could say the exact same about standard transmissions. There's really no reason to choose standard over automatic except for the fun factor these days.

so you're saying loosing traction at the rear wheels is fun? :roll:

cookie tray drifting is fun and rwd cant do it.
fwd cars can drift with the ebrake.

anyways its grip that actually matters.... aka the suspension setup... if a fwd car has good suspension it'll handle good. but in the dry rwd is a bit better. awd = master of grip.

actually i do agree with you. that rwd is better. but not for the same reasons.... i have rwd for more grip. you want it for driftoing. :roll:

The only reason I don't like FWD is the lack of traction during launches. That, and understeer.
