I've got a good one...

Postby AHTOXA » Thu Mar 06, 2008 3:57 pm

I've got a buddy that I talk to once in a while. Cool kid, works on cars for a living and knows what he's doing; very mechanically inclined.

We were talking about my Rabbit the other day and he was conviced that it's as slow as a Metro.

So a few days later we were driving to this one place in our separate cars. He drives a 2.0 newer Nissan Sentra. Intake, exhaust and that's about it when it comes to engine stuff. Nice car... not ricey. 5-speed manual. Good stick driver.

We were stopped at a light on Rt 41. Speed limit is 55 mph. This was later at night so no one on the road at the time. Great, let's go.

Green light. Slight tire squeal with part throttle. Got up to speed just a bit and floored it. Lost a bit of traction by the end of first due to roads still being white from all the salt on there. He had a good start right on par with me, but by the time I was in second it was all over.

By the time I got to 65 or so he was a few car lenghts back. We stopped at 65 in order to not go over the speed limit much.

Very nice. First time I actually raced Nibbles and murdered the Sentra 2.0

I can imagine how slow the 1.8 sentra must be.

Nice...

VW Rabbit:

170 HP / 177 ft-lbs of torque
2975 lbs

Weight to Power: 17.5 lb/HP

Sentra:

140 HP / 147 ft-lbs of torque
2885 lbs

Weight to Power: 20.6 lb/HP

Definitely a b*tchslap. :D

Are you paying homage to Futurama?

I affectionately call my rabbit Nibbles at times. I figured Rabbit - NIbbles; they just go together. Originally nothing to do with futarama.

I thought I was weird for naming my radar detector Phillip. But a car named Nibbles? Come on man.

I think all three of us should race, you with the Rabbit, your friend with the Sentra, and me with the 6. It would be an interesting race since I have to shift to 3rd and you two don't. You guys would probably walk me near the end.

In that case, it'll be a tie, no matter what.

Of course. Because the little three eyed creature was called Nibbler, not Nibbles. Nibbles is a QBasic game that game with DOS in the way-back machine. :D

It makes people laugh when I call it nibbles. I think I missed my calling as a clown because I like to make people laugh. I occasionally do a little stand-up in a close circle of friends.
