Simple question.

Post by driftingremains »

Ok well some guy pulled up next to me and it was at a red light and he was like flooring his car and shifting yet the car didn't move... and you could hear the shifts and rev's, etc.. my only thoughts are that he pulled up the emergency break and just drove it in place? I'm just wondering how he did this, lol.

Either he had his handbrake up, or his clutch is COMPLETELY shot.

...blow off valve?

Or maybe, if he did that, he could have been revving up and letting off the gas and it falls a bit and then back on the gas to rev up again, sorta sounding like shifting, cause don't BOV's make the noise when you let off the gas? I don't know anything about them but maybe.

the ricer was revving at you.

that modification that made it very loud is called a fart cannon. available on ebay for a very affordable price of under 10 dollars. expected gain is in the neighborhood of 10-100hp. automatically makes your car 3 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile. no other aftermarket upgrades offer this much power for the price, stickers are a distant second, they are only 5hp per sticker.

Sounds like a car with a BOV. In neutral.

 ROTFL

My BOV is super quiet at low rpm, but it is very loud when I'm coming off full boost (high rpm). It's the most quiet BOV I could locate.

if his tires were smoking, he was burning out.

hold down the gas and brake hard on one foot, and ease off the clutch, not too slow or too fast.

buy new tires immediately afterwords :?

That can't be good for the brakes. New brake pads afterwards as well?

on whatever tires were burning, most likely, but as long as the unpowered wheels don't spin, they don't really get worn down too much.

i did a little number on my tires a few weeks ago. had to pay $100 a piece for the cheapest tires of the size i wanted, so i enjoyed the old ones as much as possible
