STi by an auto RS

Post by A SiK STi »

I know someone who has an insane 05 rs. He strengthened the block(cause the stock ej25d engine has a weak, open deck), and put an AVO kit running 15 psi. With his high compression ratio that produces an insane amount of power, about 240+ at the wheels he said. Any ways the race was over before it started, he beat me off the line and then he was just gone. I was never in the lead..not even for a second.

Soooo let me get this straight; he boasted about running 15psi AND running high compression? he's probably a rich kid with a un knowledgably tuned car, which just happens to be faster than yours.[/b]

240+ to the wheels doesn't sound right either, unless you really botched the launch.

I guess you could say hes rich,at least his dad is, but he's a freakin genius with cars. He actually lowered his high compression ratio a little somehow (explained it but went wayyy over my head). Hes 1 yr older than me (19) and he installed and designed his own custom maps and everything for his EMS (perfect power 6)...he completely tuned it himself manually. He really knows his car in and out..made me feel stupid having spent way more money on what I thought to be a superior car. And as for a launch yes I had a good launch but, off the line before boost kicks in any RS wil beat a STi for a second or so. Hey but at least I got a big wing and DCCD 8)

He was getting 240 whp according to him,and this is from an automatic..which is insane for an all wheel drive subaru. As for my STi i've heard that I only put down like high 220's ish, I need to get it tested on a dyno. So needless to say I feel like junk now knowing to I lost to my cars baby, baby brother. And now Im on the hunt for ways to further mod my car.

um, the STi is 2.5L dude. and i have my doubts about just any old RS beating an STi off the line.

Here's a little update on the RS that smoked me. It turns out he was lying about having the stock RS engine, he actually did a STi short block swap. He also has a high stall torque converter (don't really know what that does) and some transmission cooling thingy. He said he also has alot of other suspension upgrades like Sti "pink" springs and other parts from an STi. Its a R-Sti!! Justs goes to show you what a base model impreza and about $9000 can do for you...

Just think of it this way: that $3000 difference pays for OEM equipment that goes under warranty. Plus, the car itself will be worth more on the used car market. Customized cars never do well in that part.
