Re: Throw Them Under the Bus!

How about they build a special road for it?

You know, above the regular roadway.

With a track, so that it wont have to yield to other cars?

And we'll call it a train!

Re: Syncro use in reverse

When you are rolling backward in 1st gear, your clutch needs to spin backwards. If the clutch was previously not spinning, it is no different than rolling forward and putting it into 1st gear. If the clutch was previously spinning in it's normal direction, then the synchronizer has to bring the clu...

Re: Another Day, Another Idiot Driver (Misc Thread for Stories)

I almost got rear ended twice in a minute. Merging onto a freeway, some jackass assumes the empty space left for merging traffic will save him some time. After he finally looks ahead, he swerves out of the lane and weaves around cars. Less than 30 seconds later, there is a slowdown in the slow lane ...

Re: New Manual Driver Need Some Tips

Both possibly. Your probably releasing the clutch too soon, and its not completely engaged. Keep releasing slowly even after the car gets moving. You will suck at first, no matter what . What I found useful is to rev the car up to ~1200 rpms, put it into gear and let the clutch out sloowly. The car ...

Re: Why's my car bucking?

Normal! 1st is a large gear, and is very sensitive to rapid throttle changes. (try jabbing the throttle in 1st in a empty parking lot, it'll rattle your brain).

Be smooth.

Re: Some Advice Please...

I forgot to post "pics please!" but you've already gotten to that. Dayum. Interior?! getting going on 1st gear is probably vague because its one of those "you have to do it to learn it" sort of things. Its all feeling. I would not worry too much about learning the wrong...

Re: Some Advice Please...

mmm cayman s

Just rev it up to 1k-1.2k and keep the gas steady. Release the clutch slowly, once fully engaged, you can add more throttle. The see saw motion will come naturally, dont force it.

Possible prelude successor?

Sorta?

Re: Interesting bit on shift knob weight

I have the skunk2 weighted shift knob, its just under 2 lbs. It does make a difference.

On an interesting note, I removed a yaris's knob once, it was heavier than I thought, definitely internally weighted.

Re: Another Day, Another Idiot Driver (Misc Thread for Stories)

Not to fulfill any stereotypes or anything, but... So it's friday, school just let out, it's hot. I'm walking up to where I parked, and this other girl (decent looking  ) who's in the same program as I am is parked in the same lot. I get in my car, she gets in her red LeBaron, puts the top dow...
