It's also about the market they're aiming for. Obviously if it was a minivan they wouldn't offer a manual, since it would just waste their money and resources...and nobody would buy it.

Are they only being equipped with the manual or do they also have an auto option?

If you haven't reformatted within the last year I highly recommend it, unless you've been maintaining it really well. Just remember to save ALL your important stuff to a DVD or something, or you'll be in deep shit.
