Re: Manuals you'll miss in 2019...

The manual transmission certainly makes this vehicle more attractive, but I have to think clutching it is a whole different experience, if there even is a manual clutch pedal. The manual in the JL is absolutely garbage already. It is hands down the worst clutch experience I've ever had. If anything...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

In my two auto climate control cars, there's nothing to do except maybe turn on the defrost once in a while. Otherwise they're set to auto and never adjusted. In the two manual climate vehicles I need to constantly adjust to find then maintain a good temperature. Give me the set-and-forget option e...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Maybe it's just me because I drive so many different cars and own four entirely incomparable vehicles, but I don't tend to struggle with controls that I use frequently. Wipers, lights, etc. are a one-time learning experience then I'm good. Finding the hazard light button, on the other hand, is somet...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

And then there's me, who owns a bus and it completely OK with it being an automatic. I don't think I would particularly enjoy squeezing a 35' long vehicle with shitty visibility in to the places I've squeezed it so far. Also the wife can drive it, so that makes life easier if I ever want to nap. I ...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

By strange coincidence, I might be able to help you out there. I believe you're describing the David Tracy residence. He's a writer for Jalopnik and Jeep enthusiast who has had a lot of recent material about the City of Troy forcing him to either fix and register, garage, or dispose of all his brok...

Re: Tire Rotation

My front tires are heavily worn in 10,000 miles to 6mm left and 5 mm right, whereas the back tires are 20,000 miles and have 7mm each. So I conclude that front-wheel-drive eats front tires. Every single vehicle will eat front tires first under average driving conditions. It has absolutely nothing t...

Fuel pump relays keep the fuel pump pumping. Oil pressure senders send oil pressure information. No overlap whatsoever.

If the CEL is on, you have codes. If you have codes, you have something to go off of. It may not be directly related, but one system often impacts others in ways only engineers can explain.

Pull the codes.

Either way, it sounds like your shop is playing Parts Darts.

Re: 2001 S10 2.2L engine cuts out on freeway

I have the black tape on the "check engine light" (love that "Chicken Gin") since I bought the truck from ClutchDisk. I had it on my Ranger pickup, and think on my F150 before that. Greatest repair tool in the kit. AFAIK, the Chicken Gin light is a USEPA scare tactic to induce p...

Re: Thinking of a replacement car

If you want a diesel, you need at least a 3/4 ton truck. If you want a good diesel, you buy a Ram. The Cummins has always been the best in the business.
