Crashed the Scion tC at Infineon Raceway

I was SO excited to be getting back in a race car this weekend. It's been over 3 months since I drove in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill and I was suffering from withdrawal. We'd sorted out the Scion tC's broken trans and added a trans cooler to keep the temps in check. So we brought the car out to a NA...

Re: In-Car Video - 1st Stint in 2009 25 Hours of Thunderhill

Gary I noticed you giving a lot of hand signals during the first stint video. Some of them were waves, others pointing the car behind you as to which direction it should pass you and at 7:24 you even seem to have a "what the hell man" hand motion. I guess my questions are the hand signals...

Re: In-Car Video - 1st Stint in 2009 25 Hours of Thunderhill

question: was there any one school that fully prepared you to drive that "scary" subie? or did schools only take you so far, and then it was just sheer talent that just got the rest of the way there on your own? because i've done very well at numerous schools, i'm one sponsor shy of finis...

Yes, but not faster than the Subie I drive.

What engine management are you using on your Si? You obviously saw the company car I was driving around the past two days. ;)

Re: In-Car Video - 1st Stint in 2009 25 Hours of Thunderhill

Sick driving Gary. How does it feel to be behind the wheel of a tC compared to the Suby? I have heard of race implemented twin turbo applications for the tC but even still the power can't be too immense because of the FWD unless like the Rockstar Energy tC this is converted to RWD? edit: specs on t...

Re: In-Car Video - 1st Stint in 2009 25 Hours of Thunderhill

Gary, what's with the spoiler thing on the hood? I've never seen anything like that before. Educate me, please? The front winglets generate additional downforce on the front of the car, generating more grip at the front. It reduces mid-corner understeer and helps get the power down exiting the corn...

It certainly does. 2.5 seconds/lap faster than last year with the new aero package.

Sorry to hear about your dad. When did he pass away? I lost my dad last August, so I know what you're going through.

Re: Threshold Braking + DCHT + stock pedal arrangement

1) when you first started racing (I know you sat through about a 1.5 years of classes first) but once you actually started getting seat time, were you nearly as good with threshold DCHT as you are now? Pro racing school has some classroom time, but we're talking about hours, not years. The theory c...

This is DCHT in a Scion with a stock transmission, stock flywheel, stock-like clutch and stock pedals.

If anyone knows how to embed bliptv, let me know.

Please excuse the driving errors. The car was VERY tail happy during my stint.

Re: Question: Synchros + Gearbox

everything you explained im well aware of, the part that we're trying to figure out is what exactly keeps the synchronizer from just trying to engage the dog teeth instead of what it actually does, which is preventing movement past the synchronizing collar and engaging the dog teeth at a mis-matche...
