Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Pretty sure it’s an inherent design flaw of many turbo engines. What makes you think the 2.0T is better; it could easily just be that there are far fewer examples of that engine out there. Either way, it’s probably blown out of proportion, like most things. You could very well be correct, but I've ...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

The oil dilution issues keep me away, especially since it seems to be an inherent design flaw.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Finally got around to test driving a 2.0 Accord Sport. Did like, but numbers are bad...

Edit: on second thought the clutch was rubbery and the throws super long. That said the car is ginormous.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

A CVT is the transmission that your rental was equipped with. It is short for Continuously Variable Transmission and there are no set gear ratios. Its primary advantage is that, when done correctly, the transmission allows the engine to maintain an optimal speed for a given situation (acceleration, ...

Re: So I got two new tires for the Mazda 5 today

Whenever I've gone for tires, the pamphlet always says that when replacing only two tires they should be shoved up the rear.

Kill it with fire until it dies from it. I drove my friends in 2011, it was hateful then and I can't imagine it's much better now. That said, I kind of liked the orange gauges.

Re: Honest Engines

If it's North/South would that mean there's a tiny prop shaft and a pumpkin up front? Trying to wrap my brain around how that would work.

Re: If One Clutch is Good,.....

that's what they get for not consulting with VW earlier. VW had worked out most of the kinks bye the thyme fored started using dual clutches. As I recall VW had pretty big issues with their moist DSG in the beginning. Seems like both of these trannies were shoved out before they were fully baked. A...

Re: Honest Engines

Would there be a way to design that platform to take transverse 4 cylinder engines and longitudinally mounted inline 6 cylinder engines? Or would it have to be RWD/AWD only? Curious because RWD platforms for large cars are usually expensive, at least when they're sold. This intrigues me though eithe...

Re: If One Clutch is Good,.....

After my brief experience with the Powershit Focus, I can see why people complained. The 2017 we had was supposedly the updated one where changes had been made to the innerbits. It was coarse, loud, and jiggly. The Mazda mom now has is quieter, more efficient, and feels better. That has a right-size...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

On another note, I'm exceptionally intrigued with what I'm reading from the rumour mill. Mazda are developing a large RWD/AWD architecture with a Sky-X and a Sky-D I6 for their push to go upmarket. I wonder if Mazda would be able to use Toyota as a pass-thru to get their hands on BMW's I6 (or large ...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

It only makes sense since most of the crossovers share significant underbits with a sedan model. Why not offer it across the board? I know, I know, by not offering a big feature like AWD on a sedan the manufacturer can make a credible upsell and earn more money. However, there are always people like...

Re: How much do you drive manual for the performance reasons vs. the experience?

Ain't dat da troof. Mom's auto Mazda3 is nice enough when it does things for itself, but Sport mode is ridiculous. All it does is hold a gear for an excessively long time, even after acceleration has abated.
