Re: How bad would a 2WD pickup be in the snow?

My dakota does fine in the snow with a few hundred pounds over the rear axle. I've only had it one winter so far, but my grandpa never bothered with weight and he didn't have issues in Minnesota winters. I wouldn't go offroading in the snow with it, but it gets around just fine for me.

Re: Angular Gas pedals

Ive always found the manual 2500/3500 Rams to be pretty comfortable to drive. Its interesting that you find it not to be so. I don't think Ive ever heard any complaints or seen any modifications. It's plenty comfortable in normal usage but the gas pedal in stock form is a couple of inches deeper th...

Re: How do you guys avoid pissing people behind you off when shifting?

I find it easier 90% of the time to gauge my pace with someone else in front of me as long as they don't floor it off the line or actually can keep pace with there automatic vehicle (like they won't gas hard, and brake hard for limited ill logical reasons). Most drivers here are paying so little at...

Re: How do you guys avoid pissing people behind you off when shifting?

Don't let it bother you, if they get that bent out of shape over somebody shifting (which if they ARE getting pissed they probably don't understand the concept of shifting) they can get over it. I have yet to have somebody look more than just confused when I shift, if they even pay enough attention ...

Re: Reversed through flood water in a pinch. Any cause for concern?

When you get a chance, check ALL electronics- lights, windows, locks, cruise, whatever you've got. As far as the engine, if it didn't start running weird/stall IN the water 99% chance it's ok. Most cars electrical systems are sealed well enough to survive short trips through deep water like you had....

Introvert, this picture sums my life up fairly well. I'd rather socialize online simply because if you don't like somebody you usually have an ignore button and presto, you never have to see them again.

Re: Hello from IA

Little update, I'm still here, finally got the truck back to my dads. Waiting on my next check to get some parts for it, rear brake lines are shot so they have to be replaced before I can take it anywhere.

Ebrake start with foot brake?

So in my lurking I had done some reading about hill starts using the handbrake. My question is, does anyone still do that if they have the foot operated parking brake? I would assume not, due to having to reach down to pull the release but I could be wrong. The truck I'm getting has this style brake...

Re: Hello from IA

I'm familiar with the theory, just haven't had the chance to practice it yet. Seems simple enough.

Hello from IA

New here, don't have it yet but at some point in the near (hopefully) future I'll have my grandpas 98 Dakota. Currently I have a 99 Saturn but it is an auto. I had a 89 Mustang 5 speed in high school for about 3 months before I got tired of parts breaking on it and it being somewhat unreliable. I ca...
