Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
Uhm: Basil Hayden Russel Reserve Blanton's Revel Stoke (ok, that's a spiced blend) All quite the tasty. 8-9 3 of the 4 mentioned are from Kentucky. You are welcome   . Everyone needs to forget that Kentucky is known for KFC and remember the bourbon, basketball, and horses. The GF is from...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
We stopped for lunch in Winchester at Guance's Deli & Cafe. On the "Beer Cheese Trail." Now I know there's a "Beer Cheese Trail." The deli was only OK... but probably could have been worse if I had tried the beer cheese trail. Or something. I'll have to let you know the next...

AHTOXA: You'll have to let me know the next time you guys head to WV. WV might be several hours too far of a drive for Tony and some others but, if we get a bunch of people to go, he might just make the trek. Plus, it's going to be cooler there than further south... :) Well, ya got...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
My GF's Dad is in Owensboro, so we mostly did the stretches from Evansville through Owensboro and out KY via I-64 (well, reverse that on the way in). Anywhere near you? You passed within about 10 miles of me if you took I-64 East/West across most of the state. I'm not as familiar with the drive on ...

Re: Smart Phone Holders
I'll have to try out the RAM unit and see how it goes. I might need an extra link, though. The longest link they have is a 6" and I need at least 8". Just in case anyone cared, I've been using the RAM suction-cup/arm/X-holder assembly. It's a tad pricey, but I like it. I use it all the ti...

Re: The Highway Slalom
Well, after seeing what they are, I'm not surprised I've never heard of them. They'd get torn off in short order by snowplows and other such winter paraphernalia. For those of you with experience driving around these and lines I ask which is better for visibility? At night and in rain I find it dif...

The Highway Slalom
So, I just drove from VA to KY to IL and back over the last week to visit family and friends. I noticed that, when I change lanes (to pass the slowpokes), I try to avoid running over the cat's eyes. Anyone else do that? It's kinda hard to do it smoothly above 80 MPH  (And doing 100 MPH down 7%...

Re: Do I need a Turbo Boost Gauge?
I'll second the OBDII recommendation. ScanGauge II, ScanGaugeE, UltraGauge, or even better (but more trouble; also far less cost) a smartphone with Torque and an OBDII bluetooth dongle. I've always been a little leery of the BlueTooth solutions. I thought I read somewhere that update rates were on ...

But to answer you question---no, you don't need a boost gauge....
Is it a useful gauge to have? Absolutely....
Spinning.

You aren't a liberal-arts professor on the side, or something, are you?   No, though I do have a liberal arts degree. I'm back in school for technically a third time.... It's far more important to me this time that I actually understand the information being taught because I'm not ...

Uhm, if you, the original poster, will recall: the topic was "When (if ever) is it time to give up driving stick?" Yeah, exactly. And the more we veer off topic, the less likely it will ever get back on track. Next thing you know, we'll be talking about the World Cup or perhaps the next e...

Re: When (if ever) is it time to give up driving stick?
[Getting your students to like you] wouldn't have helped the first time around. My mindset is much more conducive to learning, retaining, and WANTING to learn this time around. The first time through college, it is far more of, "I'm just continuing school to continue school because I've been s...
