Re: Standard transmission EPA ratings

Get one of those scanners. See what speed you're really going. I've driven one Toyota and noticed a 2mph discrepancy. But it was an Auto and a completely different model. So YMMV

Re: Standard transmission EPA ratings

So I had a 2000 Civic. Great car...but I noticed something. When driving an indicated 65 mph, I got great gas mileage. 37-40. I then got a scangauge and realized when my speedometer indicated 65, the computer was reading about 61 mph. When the computer read 65 the speedometer was close 69mph. When I...

Re: Watkins' other Saab

Yeah I was bummed when I saw it was in Sturgis.

The Albany one was nice. It rained on the show day.

Re: Buying guide actually updated to 2021

No more manuals in the regular Civic sedans either, at least they are still in the hatch. Only reason Subaru still has manuals in Impreza is that the current model is relatively old. Like the Forester, when it comes time in (2023?) for the new model, I doubt the manual will be available for the Imp...

Re: Good Automatics

Its a shame they switched to a cable shifter in the JLs. Wasn't it rod actuated or direct actuated before?

Re: Good Automatics

That's the problem nowadays. While it may have a manual, the manual will more than likely be garbage. I heard the manuals in the previous gen 3 series was. Especially compared to the 8 speed. I'm sure 95+% of their R&D goes to the auto...and it shows. Hell, I was working on my Accord last week d...

Re: Good Automatics

OR am I just dreaming... It's not just the slushbox hardware - more than a few vehicles "Share" the ZF RWD 8-speed, but they don't share the software that determines much of the driving experience. I think you'll have to test ...

Good Automatics

I recently have been thinking of switching over to an Auto lately. Since my two older Hondas I really have not found a manual to daily drive I really liked. The Miata/BRZ are definitely fun but they're cars you really can't daily drive. Anyways, I recently took a drive in a colleague's Alfa with the...

Re: Let's talk about dual mass flywheels

I don't think my older Hondas did. But I know the Volvo and the VW did. I'd be curious to drive the same car back to back one with a dmf and one without to see what the differences are.

Re: Buying guide actually updated to 2021

I can't believe Honda got rid of the manual in all of their Acura products as well as the Accord. Mazda pretty much only has the 3 and the Miata. 6 is destined for the scrap heap. The base Golf is gone etc.

It is interesting how Subaru is keeping on the manual.

Re: 2021 Nissan Frontier - here we go again...

I know you're not supposed to drive it like a sports car but I saw a test drive on a Tacoma with a manuel and the rev hang was pretty atrocious. I don't mind a bit of rev hang, but it looks like it'd be undriveable in day to day traffic.
