Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I love driving my new Focus! I've already driven it over 1k miles, and I am averaging a little over 30 mpg. My best tank was 33.5 mpg with mostly 70 mph highway driving. I am pretty impressed with this car! :D Is that one relatively peppy? My friend had an 07 and it was gutless and didn’t get more ...

Re: Change your rearview mirror bearing

I’m specifically thinking of periodically misjudging a curb and running it over. Otherwise when driving down the road I do turn round.

I’m speaking of CVTs in general. Nissan has issues and the Subarus with them fitted are running into troubles too.

Re: Change your rearview mirror bearing

At least it’ll drive nicely until the transmission shits itself. I don’t know if the lanewatch feature is the same I’m thinking of which activates with the left signal; I could see that being useful to avoid curb checks. Otherwise I swing my mirrors wide and turn around, as I was taught in drivers’ ...

Re: Change your rearview mirror bearing

BOO! That was a nifty little feature that I could get used to. Tell me the automotransport module was at least the 10 speed and not the rubber band. I drove one with the rubber band, and faux “gears” in 2016 and it was a sewing machine - not quite as bad as the Sentra my friend had several years ago...

Re: Change your rearview mirror bearing

The little side curb camera on the Accord is nice, but I only see nominal utility out of this. I swing my mirrors wide and prefer it that way. Then again I still turn around for all of my lane changes and can only see this really benefitting people driving box trucks or vans with no windows.

Glue it to the S10 and have a 4.5 liter I-8.

Re: Everything you NEVER Wanted to Know About Stop/Start

Oh they'll creep. Just takes a twitch on the brake pedal to cause the vehicle to rumble back into life. I've driven two current Fords (an F150 and an Edge) with the stop/start system and they're just as likely to creep as any other auto. I have yet to experience a manual with the system, but I expec...

I would have thought you'd prefer the rib- and/or wrist-breaker method.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Depends if you're looking new or old. I had an Escape with the 2.5, identical to the current model but for minor cosmetic differences) and it was pretty decently spacious and the mileage was pretty good for a rolling brick. It was FWD and did fine even during winter. If you're looking new and plan o...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

It's simply that the iPhone is just like every other smartphone I've had, but slightly worse.

Truth be told if Blackberry had one where I could stream Pandora and Stitcher I'd likely have one of those. I don't see them as often.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I currently have an iPhone 7 and think with the next go around I'll go back to Android. There are enough features that I've found just don't work as well with the iPhone as with Androids and I haven't quite fallen into fanboi status. Sure it's okay, but I can't justify spending more for a piece of g...

Re: Warranty Wars

My mom used to geek out and like look at old car stickers. On them were 3 month / 3000 mile warranties. Now she watches old car propaganda and Jam Handy videos on YouTube. The 1938 Ford V8 good for 68 "effortless horsepower" is fun to watch.

I've had to start asking if a CD player is included as I have plenty of things that can't be found online. The new VWs have CD players in the glove box, which is a weird spot for it.

Re: Warranty Wars

There are a number of dealer chains in Minnesota that offer limited lifetime powertrain warranties on all vehicles sold regardless of manufacturer or used status. An F&I guy who stated he "wasn't a product specialist" pretty much said with all the computers running things the interior ...
