Re: RomPirate's new-new-new-new car

Noice. Another Mazda in the fold. I've always been intrigued by the RX-8 but don't know that I would do it justice.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Drove back from Milwaukee WI via Joliet IL and had 410 smiles on one tank of gas in the PT Cruiser and the fuel gage needle was still just above the empty mark. I credit it to extremely smooth traffic on Sunday. Curious, how big is the tank in the PT? I just spent 320 miles on the road in a 2017 Ma...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Oh your musical renditions, Rope. They always crack me up.

I've chirped quite by accident a number of times.

Re: Honest Engines

Question: do vehicles in this class require a higher classification of licensure to operate on public streets? Is this typically a commercial unit manufactured for business porpoises? In Minnesota this at least a class C license requirement, at least when loaded to capacity. For reference everyday s...

Re: Quality? - SCHMALITY!

I often think of this. Specifically what is the working definition of unreliable? Ford guys trash GM; GM guys trash Ford; everybody trashes Chrysler. Yet proportionally speaking cars from each company seem about as common relative to age as any other. I'm certainly guilty and cop to dogging GM (thou...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Do you suppose this will cause drivability problems for average schmucks who are unfamiliar with the characteristics of the new engine type? I'm no engineer and don't pretend to be one on tv. Is this another item to put on the wait and see list like the V8-6-4 or Honda's V6-4-3) that ended up being ...

Rope, I need to watch that again. It used to be a Christmas tradition to watch Blues Brothers.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

That's the one. Super tacky and unnecessary. Column shifters are just fine in every application I've ever used them. Even the one in the F150 works pretty well that the manually shifting is a bit of a joke.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I definitely dislike the button system, even as it looks less tacky than that found it the Terrain/Equinox (which is a horizontal number instead of vertical). I imagine there's a lockout to prevent any accidental gear changes at speed, but even the column shifter of yore would be a better solution i...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

The MKC is loosely related to the Escape while the MKX is related to the Edge. The MKT is related to the Explorer while the Navigater is still a thing that's related to the Expedition (I didn't even realize the Expedition was still around until I saw a new one in the showroom). Fun part is that the ...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I'm a bit late to this party, but having driven an Edge with the 2.0turbo found in the Escape, Fusion, Focus ST (and in a very limited number of older current generation Explorers and Flexes) I was surprised that it could get out its own way as well as it did. My friend, who owns said Edge has repor...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I'm more interested in fuel cells rather than battery powered electric cars. If infrastructure could be built up and an efficient way to crack hydrogen from water developed the range anxiety issue could be moot. A lot of my driving is done in fits and spurts where electrics could be a difficult prop...
