Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

On a side note what's the logic of having to start an automatic car but having a lockout if your foot isn't on the brake to start? Wouldn't the car being in park negate any need for this (it's not push button either)? Shirley, you have heard of the belt-n-suspenders approach. If either one will kee...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Wow, the next time I drive to or drive back from Toronto, I hope I am able to adjust my travel times to avoid the evening rush hours. Leaving at 4:45 pm, I was in heavy stop-n-go traffic all the way to Hamilton and then again as I approached London. After London, the traffic volume was significantly...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

HAH! So, as I was ripping the weather-stripping off my doors as I yanked them open after work yesterday evening, I was thinking: "Wow, Isn't that special? Someone else recently experienced this same weather mere hours before me. I wonder who that might have been. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/b6/0...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

With this cold weather Galadriel has been a bitch. Is there anything I can do to make sure the doors open consistently? Lately they've been freezing shut necessitating heavy and constant hipchecks. The rubber gasket around the door seems fine, but it's likely original (15 years old). Can I lubricat...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I've known people that rent a nearby room in some old lady's house for weekdays when they are working a lot of hours and want to avoid their long commute times.

Re: Finally got another car

If the clutch were dragging a little when it shouldn't, that could exacerbate issues with the lower-gear (hardest-working) synchros. If shifts are equally bad with the engine off and clutch released the clutch is probably not a significant factor. Hey, stop exacerbating on this site or you'll have ...

Re: Winter Tars

I still remember when Poplier Silence magazine went out to GM Milford Proven Ground and tested posi-traction (limited slip) vs open differential on a split-mu hill climb (Slippery on one side only). The car with posi didn't climb the hill as well as the car without....but it came down to car with po...

Re: Winter Tars

Letting air out won't net appreciably better grip strength? I'm speaking specifically winter since my winter tires have never been brilliant, thus my wondering if I'm using them wrong. If you want better grip strength, then you've got to practice picken em up by the bead area and putin em down agai...

Just saw it in half. Hot glue it together whenever you want to use it. What could possibly go wrong? don't b so stupid. Glue won't hold two halves of a canoe together. Haven't you learned anything from watching tv? You send for some of that tape the guy used to put the two halves of his boat ...

Winter Tars

Do you need winter tires if it doesn't snow? "Despite the winter tires being dead in the middle of their operating range, and the summer tires much colder than they wanted to be, the winter tires took longer to stop the car than the summer rubber. That said, Fenske did say the car felt more st...
