Re: 2012 Vehicles with a Manual Transmission
I should make this list for 2020 and 2021 vehicles. The list is going to be depressingly short.

Re: Dkaz’s rides
I do what I can do on my own: suspension, brakes, spark plugs, etc. Things like clutches, belts, bearings, etc. I rely on a mechanic on but I do have a couple of indie mechanics I like and trust. I always intend on keeping things for a long time but I end up going through cars and motorcycles like u...

Re: Well I found the Focus replacement...
Sweet ride! I’ve had a soft spot for these ever since I rented one with the fuel gulping V6. I’m always on the lookout for one of these in SEL trim with the analogue clock and of course a standard transmission. Found one but really expensive... https://nanaimo.craigslist.org/ctd/d/richmond-southwest...

Re: Dkaz’s rides
It's been a little quiet here lately unlike my suspension system, I figured I should contribute something. It's sad that after a short lived revival around the start of the last recession, the manual transmission is dying at an even quicker pace. Yea I'll just replace it all, well eventually. There'...

Re: Dkaz’s rides
I put about 2,200 lb of cinder block in my old Mazda 5 lol. I've been averaging 27.5 MPG on my current 5 vs. 25 MPG on my old 2007. They did something in 08 to squeeze an extra 2 or 3 MPG out of the engine and while I was skeptical at first, the numbers are showing it. Not far off from the wife's Ma...

Re: Dkaz’s rides
Hi, I’m back. Still have the Mazda 3 which is my wife’s, coming on 8 years with 176k km (110k mi) on it. Have had a number of second cars and motorcycles along the way, sometimes both at the same time. Three other minivans, a 1/2 ton SUV, a manual hatchback, 3 scooters, 3 motorcycles, Now I’m back t...

Very nice looking CAI.
Still have and love your SS? It’s still one of my favourite cars although your MPG makes me want to cry lol.

Re: No more stick-shift Acuras
Would buy another manual were the price right and if it had power windows. Roll up windows are pretty much almost extinct. Not a single compact car has roll up windows anymore. Even in the subcompact class, the last subcompact to have rollup windows -- the Toyota Yaris -- has standard power windows...

Re: No more stick-shift Acuras
Sad. Prior to the ILX, Canada had the EL from 1996 to 2005, then the CSX from 2006 til 2011. All sold very well with a good manual take rate upwards of 20%. Then the ILX came along which was no longer Canadian exclusive. For some reason sales started tanking midway through the CSX's generation. The ...

Re: 2014 Toyota Corolla
I test drove one for a bit. CVT is like any other automatic, I'd rather get a stick shift. Very nice interior, lots of room in the back, but I the seats I found a bit lacking much like my old 2008. I drove it in the city so didn't get to test its handling. It should remain a top 3 seller.

I've been lurking until someone complained about having 6 cogs. Oh no he did-n't!
What's wrong with needing to downshift to pass people? We drive manuals, not autos.

Good reason to buy a brand new car with manual, even though it is financially wiser to buy 1-4 year old used.

Re: Should You Buy a Car With a Manual Transmission?
I wonder if the fact that more Americans drive to work per capita and their commutes are longer as well. Europeans tend to bike or take transit to work so their cars are reserved for evenings and weekends when driving manual is a lot more enjoyable. At least that's the perception. I don't think driv...
