Re: Phil's '95 VW Golf Sport VR6 (Update: exhaust clip!)
Still dubbin' huh Phil? I respect that you still have this car though. My friend's VR project is currently stagnating in his garage. I mean, I know school is important and all but he hasn't touched it in over a year :( Dude, the VR exhaust note is intoxicating. I really can't let go of her no...

Re: Phil's '95 VW Golf Sport VR6 (Update: exhaust clip!)
With such horrible roads, do you have any reason to worry that you'll get a sidewall blowout and be stuck without that spare? I have AAA, lol. But the road quality for the most part isn't the limiting factor of where I can drive the car, it's things like ridiculously steep driveways and such. (the ...

Re: Phil's '95 VW Golf Sport VR6 (Update: exhaust clip!)
11-12-13 I like how my photo quality got worse over time, since I've been spending all my time behind video cameras for work, and well, that whole Instagram thing got invented since I started this thread. Work has a way of sapping your free time; plus, she's kinda camera shy right now after the who...

Re: Phil's '95 VW Golf Sport VR6 (Update: exhaust clip!)
Yeah, a few kinks. The fuel pump is the same one from my 2.0, so it's always been old. One of the few remaining original parts on this thing (short of the chassis)...225k miles isn't that kind to a fuel pump apparently. I need to switch my friend's speedometer sensor into my car just to test if it's...

Re: Phil's '95 VW Golf Sport VR6 (Update: exhaust clip!)
Small stuff worked out fine, still don't have a speedometer but oh well. Wheel bearings and rad fan worked fine for the trip to Vegas. However, the fuel pump gave out in the heat on the way back, just waited till night time and all was well. Car show was kinda cool, didn't shoot any footage of it be...

Re: Phil's '95 VW Golf Sport VR6 (Update: exhaust clip!)
It's kind of funny, I spent a lot of effort trying to get the 2.0 to rev faster and have less rev-hang because that engine was so lethargic... Now, with the VR6, the revs fall so fast that I don't have time to execute a relaxed shift. I either have to blip a bit to revmatch (an upshift, lol) or don'...

this is awesomeness :) . any vids of driving it?? :D Here's a quick exhaust sound video I did just now since more than a few people are curious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhnB84YIilI 2.25" crush-bent exhaust system is as follows: Downpipe - Test Pipe w/ O2 sensor - Small Resonator - Magna...

Re: Phil's '95 VW Golf Sport (Update: First Real Setback...)
Do you prefer hydraulic, or was the cable system not compatible? VR6 transmission is a different transmission, and is hydro clutch. And having driven both, I prefer the hydro clutch. It's actually heavier than my 2.0's clutch, so it's easier to modulate, and the actuation is very smooth and doesn't...

Then, we ran into another obstacle: the clutch master cylinder didn't fit into the pedal! Turns out, passat master cylinders are different than the mk3 ones. Cue a hurried trip down t...

5-18-12 T-Minus 13 days to car show Our buddy rolled thru with the trailer at 3:45pm. We rolled the Passat shell onto the trailer, and started ripping the wheels and hubs off while I called Ecology Auto Recycling to see what time they closed. "You close at 5pm, right?" "4:45, sir.&qu...

I was out on a video shoot for work tonight, but I did receive one pic from a buddy:
"Chains done! She's ready to go in"
You have no idea how excited I am.

The best part about him is that he actually gives stuff to me for cheaper than online distributors, because he's saving on shipping vs. me where i'm buying individual parts, so it's a win-win situation!
Can't believe I didn't know about them until now.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
I drove an '07 WRX today. Wow! That car was awesome. I had wanted to drive an 02-07 WRX for a while now, and I saw one sitting at the Fiat dealer and said "F it, let's drive it". It had an Invidia catback exhaust and it sounded great, a really nice signature flat-4 burble/growl/roar depen...
