Re: help with stopping/slowing down

so if im on say a main road (limit of 40-45mph) and im going to make a left or right When making a turn, ideally you will complete a downshift before reaching the turn, and then you can just take the turn in the low gear and get back on the gas right away. Do a heel-toe downshift if you can, or bra...

Re: Start and stop driving uphill

Oh I see my mistake. I thought there would be two sides on every gear, but take a good look at the diagram in LHOswald's signature. The purple things are the gear selector rings, and each one has two sides, but only one side per gear. The "back" side of each gear has nothing (the gears bei...

Oh, I just realized that there would have to be a synchronizer on both the upshift and downshift side of the gear selector doo-dad. So your truck is missing the downshift ones? That's crazy, I do declare!

Re: Burnin' Rubber...

2) Practice getting moving in 1st with no gas, yes it can be done easily. Be light on the clutch and it'll slowly take off! The operative word there being slowly. If the car stalls, then do it even more slowly next time. You need to bring up the clutch pedal gradually and smoothly. Even after the c...

Re: GLI and fuel consumption..HELP PLEASE!

Write on your receipt how many miles you drove before filling I use my trip-odometer to do this. I fill my tank to the top, then reset the counter to zero. At the next fill-up, I refuel to the top of tank, and just take the miles displayed on the dashboard and divide by the gallons on my receipt. U...

It did? Where is it hiding? You don't mean the speakers in the door and the backseat? -- those are probably 4" or so.

Edit -- Looks like the newer versions have one next to the spare tire. Mine does not have that.

Re: subwoofer

I have SSP set to "feel", the bass at 3, and treble at 1. SRT for MP3s is off. I think when it's set like that, it just pushes the woofers beyond what they're made for, and you start hearing distortion. It does make bass, but then the midrange frequencies suffer. So I prefer to set to to ...

Re: subwoofer

You can go for a box that takes up about 1 cubic foot and mount the amp on top if you do sealed. Not much room taken up at all ;) Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can wire a box like that with banana plugs, so that it can be detached easily? That way if you decide you need all the trunk room you ca...

Re: Synchromesh and rev-hang

it is easier to bring down rpm then bring it up with the clutch. I don't know where that idea comes from. The clutch works the same either way. Without feeding gas to the engine, it tends to slow down due to friction. In a rev hang situation where you are upshifting, the clutch has an easier time f...

I was in college about 8 years ago, and even then the biggest porn server had nearly 1TB.
Back then that took 4 or 5 disks to hold it :)
